10/17 WWE SmackDown Live Results – Welcome to WrestlingAttitude’s coverage of WWE SmackDown on October 17, from the SAP Center in San Jose, CA.

We take a look back at everything that happened with the members of the RAW brand, Seth Rollins and his Guys.

Nick Aldis is in the ring. He welcomes everyone to the show.  He mentions that a match was scheduled between Drew McIntyre and Jacob Fatu.  He says that match is a number one contender’s match for the WWE Championship.  The winner faces this man…

Cody Rhodes makes his way to the ring.

Cody mentions that Seth beat him at Crown Jewel and it split him to the bone.  He says they don’t need to be in the ring ever again, but that isn’t how it works around here.  You don’t need 20/20 vision to see that he has his own issues with Bron, Bronson, and Heyman.  He says Seth needs to handle his business and Cody says he will handle Smackdown business.  The business of Smackdown is being with all of you in the Bay Area to watch a Number One Contender match.  He says he heard our general manager ask who is it going to be?   Will it be Drew McIntyre?   Will it be someone you are rather familiar with . . . Jacob Fatu?

Cody says he doesn’t know how this shakes out but he will be ready.  The lights are bright and the roads to Saturday Night’s Main Event run through San Jose.

Backstage:

Solo Sikoa marches in with his group of black-shirted men and abruptly interrupts a Rey Fenix photo shoot to stage one of his own, telling Rey that he’s done. Rey asks what his problem is, and Solo responds that he has the problem. Rey is then punched in the midsection before Solo orders his men to take him out. Security and officials rush in to stop the attack, and Solo and his associates retreat.

We go to commercial.

Charlotte Flair and Alexa Bliss vs. Sol Ruca and Zaria for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships

Sol and Flair start things off and we will test the TimeCop laws of physics right away.  They lock up and Flair with a wrist lock.  Sol with a reversal and Flair with a reversal.  Flair goes for an arm wringer but Sol flips to her feet.  Flair with a wrist lock and Flair does the flair Flip.  Flair kicks Sol and Zaria.  Flair with a slingshot rollup.  Zaria with a kick.  Flair with a kick in the corner and she sends Sol into the turnbuckles.  Bliss tags in and Bliss with a head scissors take down.  Zaria tags in and Bliss with a sleeper and she gets on Zaria’s back.  Zaria with a snap mare but Bliss with a slap and kicks followed by a drop kick.  Zaria catches Bliss abut Bliss escapes and Zaria with a waist lock.  Bliss sets for Sister Abigail but Zaria escapes and hits a choke slam.  

Bliss rolls to the floor and Zaria follows.  Zaria sends Bliss into the apron and then back into the ring.  Zaria gets a near fall.  Zaria with a hard Irish whip.  Zaria goes to the turnbuckles to lift Bliss up and apply a sleeper.  Zaria lets go and Bliss falls to the mat.  Zaria gets a near fall.  Zaria with an Irish whip and Bliss with forearms to Sol and Zaria.  Bliss with a Thesz PRess and punches.  Zaria with a clothesline for a near fall.  Sol tags in and she hits a hip into the corner.  Zaria with a splash and Zaria tosses Sol into Bliss for a drop kick into the turnbuckles.  Sol gets a near fall.  Sol with a front face lock.  Bliss with an inside cradle for a near fall.  Bliss sends Sol to the floor.  Sol gets back into the ring to stop the tag attempt and she knocks Flair off the apron.  Sol with an Irish whip and elbow into the corner.

Zaria tags in and they hit a double back elbow and a double elbow drop for a near fall.  Zaria with a reverse chin lock.  Zaria with an Irish whip and she goes back to the turnbuckles but she slips but she gets up to apply a sleeper from the turnbuckles.  Bliss escapes and both are down.  Zaria stops Bliss and Zaria sends Bliss into the turnbuckles and tags in Sol.  Sol with a spinning face plant.  Zaria tags in and Sol goes up top for a handstand twisting splash but she misses when Bliss moves.  Zaria runs into a kick and Bliss sends SOl to the floor.  Zaria grabs Bliss and Bliss kicks her waway.  Flair tags in and she goes up top and hits a cross body on Sol and Zaria.  Flair with chops to both women.  Flair with a walk over clothesline to Zaria.  Flair with a thrust kick to Zaria and a second one.  Flair with a third one and a a fallaway slam.  Flair gives Sol a crotch chop.

Flair with a flatliner into the turnbuckles for a near fall.  Flair with a waist lock and Sol tags in.  Flair with a kick to Zaria but Sol with a springboard clothesline and more clotheslines.  Sol knocks Bliss to the floor.  Sol with a German suplex but Flair blocks a drop kick and applies a Boston Crab.  Sol rolls through for a near fall.  Flair goes for a figure four but Sol kicks Flair into the corner and Sol with a Sol Snatcher but Bliss breaks it up.  Zaria misses a baseball slide.  Bliss goes for a head scissors off the apron but Zaria catches her and swings Bliss into the ringside barrier.  Flair kicks Zaria.  Sol with a moonsault off the ring post to Flair.

Sol goes over to Blake Monroe and they have some words.  Flair clips a distracted Sol against the ringside barrier.  Flair sends Sol back into the ring and she applies the figure four and then she applies a knee drop to the leg.  Flair reapplies and bridges.  Sol has to tap out.

Winners:  Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair  

After the match, Charlotte and Alexa shake hands with their opponents.

Backstage:

Cody Rhodes walks in the back and he is stopped by Jacob Fatu. Fatu welcomes Cody to San Jose.  Fatu says when he is done dog walking Drew, he will show Cody the real him.  You will know that Jacob Fatu is all gas and no brakes.  They shake hands.

Time for a commercial.

We Hear from Aleister Black

Aleister Black says for weeks, he has been setting a trap.  Everything has been calculated.  He mapped this out to align with his wife.  This was part of the plan.  It was inevitable truth.  There is no one more methodical and vicious than his wife.  He put his cards on the table and they are what you would be what you call a necessary evil.  Zelina says the venom is poisonous.

– We take a look at the US Championsihp Open Challenge and the refurn of Tama Tonga and the painted warriors.

Backstage:

Miz is with Nick Aldis and he says he wants it big.  Nick says he will take it under advisement.

Sami Zayn enters and asks where is his match. Nick says he was waiting for Nakamura to get his rematch.  He has to deal with Solo and the MFTs. Sami says he is not going to hide back here and hide in the shadows because they have something to prove.  Sami says this means something to him.  It means something to the fans and the locker room . . . hungry for opportunities.  Sami says he is going out there and whoever wants to face him knows where he is.

Nick asks Miz and Miz says he is good.

Sami Zayn’s United States Open Challenge

We are back and Sami Zayn is in the ring for his Open Challenge.

Miz came out and says he is sick of these open challenges…Carmelo Hayes attacks Miz from behind and they have to be separated by security.

Back from one year absence is Ilja Dragunov!

Sami Zayn vs. Ilja Dragunov for the United States Championship

They shake hands before Ilja throws a forearm.  They go back and forth with forearms and Ilja with a back elbow.  Sami with a clothesline.  Sami wih a chop and he sets for a suplex but Ilja escapes and applies a wist lock.  Sami with a standing switch.  Ilja with a standing switch.  Sami with forearms.  Sami with a foerarm and Ilja with a jumping enzuigiri.  Ilja with a running knee into teh corner and a Yakuza kick to the head.  Ilja with a boot to the head.  Sami blocks a snap mare and Ilja with a chop and snap mare.  Ilja with a back senton and he gets a near fall.  Ilja with a forearm to the back and a boot to the back of the head.  Ilja with a slam and he goes to the turnbuckles.  Ilja goes up top and Sami iwth a foerarm and Ilja falls to the floor.  

Sami goes to the floor and sends Ilja back into the ring.  Sami with a boot to the chest.  Ilja goes to the apron.  Sami suplexes Ilja back into the ring and he gets a near fall.  Sami with an elbow drop and chop.  Ilja with a chop and head butt.  Ilja with kicks, knees, and chops.  Sami with chops and a forearm.  Sami punches Ilja in the corner and follows with a forearm.   Sami with a clothesline and he gets a near fall.  Sami with a chop and Ilja with a forearm.  They go back and forth with forearms and European uppercuts.  Ilja walks into an elbow and he follows with a tornado DDT.  Sami sets for a Helluva kick but Ilja with a jumping boot for a near fall.  

Ilja with a German suplex and he holds on to the waist lock.  Sami with elbows but Ilja holds on and hits another German suplex.  Ilja holds on but Sami with more elbows.  Sami with a victory roll for a near fall.  Sami with a German suplex and he holds on.  Ilja with a side head lock but Sami regains control.  Ilja with elbows and Sami with a German suplex.  Ilja with elbows to the side of the head and Ilja elevates Sami and sends him to the mat with a forearm.   Ilja goes up top and he misses a double stomp and rolls through.  Sami with a Michinoku Driver for a near fall.  Sami with a chop adn Ilja goes down.  Ilja goes to the apron and so does Sami.  Ilja with elbows to the midsection and he gets Sami up on his shoulders.  Sami with elbows and he goes for a brainbuster on the apron but he catches Ilja on the ropes and they both fall to the floor.

Both men beat the count back into the ring.  Ilja tells Sami to hit him and Sami kicks Ilja against the ropes.  Ilja and Sami slap and chop each other.  Ilja adds head butts to his flurry of chops.  Ilja gets a near fall.  Sami with slaps to Ilja and Ilja slaps back.  Ilja with a kick and he sets for a power bomb and he hits it for a near fall.  Ilja kicks Sami in the head a few times.  Sami kicks Ilja a few times to return the favor.  Ilja with a chop and he tells Sami to hit himi.  Sami with chops to Ilja.  Sami with cross faces to Ilja.  Ilja with knees to the head and a forearm to the back.  Ilja goes up top for the back senton but Sami stops Ilja on the turnbuckles.  

Sami goes to the turnbuckles and Ilja slaps Sami and pushes hiim to the mat.  Ilja with a back senton off the turnbuckles for a near fall.  Ilja backs Sami into the corner and puts him on the turnbuckles.  Ilja with chops to Sami and Sami punches back.  Ilja punches Sami and chops him.  Sami with forearms and he chops Ilja off the turnbuckles.  Ilja gets back up and chops Sami.  Ilja sets for a superplex.  Ilja sets for H Bomb but Sami gets his boot up and Sami sets for a Helluva Kick and he misses.  Ilja with a wrist clutch exploder for a near fall.   Sami with a kick and Ilja with a running knee for a near fall.  Ilja with a spinning back fist to the head and leg.  Sami avoids a third one and Ilja avoids a Blue Thunder Bomb.  Ilja with Konstantin Special.  Ilja sets for Torpedo Moscow but Sami with a boot.  Sami with a Blue Thunder Bomb for a near fall.  

Ilja falls into the corner.  Sami looks around to set for a Helluva Kick.  Sami is in the corner but . . . 

Solo Sikoa appears on the stage and Sami gets distracted.

Solo wags his finger and goes to the back.  

Sami stops Ilja and hits an exploder into the turnbuckles.  Sami runs into a flying shoudler tackle and H Bomb for the three count.

Winner and NEW US Champion:  Ilja Dragunov

After the match, The MFTs attack both Dragunov and Zayn. Talla Tonga, Tamma Tonga, Tonga Loa and JC Mateo go to town as Sikoa tells them what to do. Rey Fenix runs out to help Dragunov and Zayn but gets bashed up too. After the beat down, Sikoa gets on the mic and says The MFT’s run SmackDown. The lights go out and Uncle Howdy comes on the screen and says seek and you shall find and asks them if they’re ready for what’s waiting on the other side. The lights come up and the Wyatt Sicks are standing on the apron. They get in the ring, Sikoa and The MFTs leave the ring.

We go to commercial.

Backstage:

Cathy Kelley is backstage with Tiffany Stratton and asks how her loss at Crown Jewel has affected her. Tiffany says it won’t change anything — Stephanie Vaquer is great and pushed her to her limits, but one loss won’t define her. Kiana James interrupts and says that loss is the reason she offered her services to Stephanie instead of Tiffany. Tiffany fires back, saying maybe Kiana doesn’t have what it takes. She then challenges Kiana to a match next week.

Backstage:

We then cut to Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin, who talk about celebrating their anniversary in WWE and how it only took them two weeks to win the titles. Sabin says it’s time they go after the gold again. Angel and Humberto interrupt, saying the Motor City Machine Guns had a hot start but fizzled out. Sabin reminds them who they beat in their debut — them. The two teams agree to an annual match to settle things.

Los Garza vs. Motor City Machine Guns

Angel and Alex start things off and Humberto distracts Alex and Angel hits him from behind and kicks Alex.  Angel with a side head lock.  Sabin tags in and Alex blocks a kick and they hit a flatliner and missile drop kick combination on Angel.  Sabin with a suicide dive onto Angel and Humberto.  Sabin sends Angel back intot he ring and Humberto holds on to Sabin’s leg and Angel kicks Sabin.  Angel with punches.  Angel chops Sabin in the corner but misses a splash on an Irish whip.  Alex tags in and chops Angel.  Humberto pulls Angel out of the corner and Alex hits the turnbuckles.  Humberto and Angel with kicks to Alex.  Humberto goes to the floor and he kicks Alex in the midsection.  Alex is sent back into the ring and he gets a near fall.

Humberto kicks Alex  and the referee warns him.  Alex goes to the apron and Humberto sets to suplex Alex back into the ring and Alex blocks it.  Alex tries to get Humber to the apron.  Alex with an elbow to Angel but Humberto with a forearm.  Angel tags in and they connect with a knee to the head and a kick to the back of the head.  Angel chokes Alex in the ropes and connects with forearms.  Angel kicks Alex in the chest and he applies an arm bar and chin bar.  Alex punches Angel and Angel with a kick and he punches Alex.  Sabin pushes Angel off Alex but Angel puts Alex in the ropes.  Humberto kicks Alex from the apron.  Angel with a single leg crab.

Alex with kicks to Angel but Angel kicks Alex and returns to the single leg crab.  Alex with a neck breaker and Humberto tags in.  He stops Alex from making the tag but Alex kicks Humberto away and Sabin tags in and he hits a cross body on both men and hits a double clothesline.  Sabin with a German suplex to Angel and a back slide on Humbert and a crucifix for a near fall.  Sabin backs Humberto into the corner and Alex tags in.  They hit a double hip toss and then they hit a series of kicks on Humberto and then Angel.  Humberto with a sit out one arm power bomb for a near fall.  Angel tags in and he kicks Sabin.  Sabin has a kick blocked and Angel gets Sabin up for a Gory Special.  Humberto tags in and hits a slingshot cutter while Angel hits a Gory Bomb for a near fall when Alex breaks it up.  

Backstage:

Axiom and Nathan Frazer are in the locker room discussing how they need to make an impact, with Axiom saying they just have to find the right opportunity. Johnny Gargano, Tommaso Ciampa, and Candice LeRae walk in, with Gargano and Ciampa talking about their plans for the tag division. Ciampa says they stepped aside so the Street Profits couldn’t point fingers at them, adding that nothing has really changed in the division. The two start joking about getting a stupid mask for Halloween, and they grab Axiom’s mask, prompting Axiom to challenge them to a match.

Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre in a Number One Contender Match

We cut to the back and we see a scaffold on top of Fatu and they pull it off him.  Fatu is bleeding from the mouth as we go to commercial.

We are back and Nick asks Fatu if he saw what happened.

Drew’s music plays and Nick has somewhere to go.

Drew has something to say to the crowd.

Drew says it appears your boy Bleeding Gums Fatu is all gas . . . no brakes.  He asks the referee to raise the hand of the new number one contender.

Nick Aldis comes out and tells Drew to hold on a second.  He says he doesn’t know what happened back there and it is bad.  If you had anything to do with that.

Drew says he had nothing to do with that.  He says he is jumping through hoops to get what is his.  You have known him for twenty years.  Do the right thing and make him the number one contender and give him the match right now.

Cody comes out and he says we are done with all of this.  Do you think this group of people want to watch you talk?  They wanted a number one contender match.  

Cody says he thinks they should give them something right now.  You want your title match?  Let’s do it right here . . . right now.

They fight outside the ring and Cody with punches and kicks.  Cody Irish whips Drew over the ringside barrier into the crowd.  Cody punches Drew and sends him into the ringside barrier.  Cody sends Drew into the boards and then he hits Drew in the midsection with a chair.  Cody punches Drew in the head.  Cody sends Drew into a trash can.  Cody with a punch and they make their way back to the ring.  Cody rakes the eyes and head butts Drew.

Cody with a punch and he chokes Drew with a chain.  Cody sends Drew over the ringside barrier.  Drew hits Cody in the throat and then tries to send Cody into the announce table, but Cody blocks it and sends Drew into the table.  Drew sends Cody into the ringside barrier and punches him.  Cody and Drew with punches adn Cody Irish whips Drew into the ring post.

They get into the ring and Cody tells them to ring the bell.

Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship

Drew with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex and then he punches Cody.  Cody with a double leg take down and punches.  Drew with a double thrust to the throat and a release suplex.  Cody punches Drew in the corner and then from the turnbuckles.  Cody bites the forehead.  Drew with a back elbow and he gets a near fall.  Drew with an arm bar and chin bar.  Cody with jabs but Drew kicks Cody to avoid the Bionic Elbow.  Drew with a Future Shock for a near fall.  Drew chops Cody a few times.  Drew with punches and kicks.  Drew with chops and Cody chops back.  Dew with a head butt and more chops.  Cody with a kick and drop down punch.  Cody hits a Cody Cutter.  

Cody goes for a suicide dive but Drew with a forearm to stop him.  Drew sends Cody over the ringside barrier into the time keeper’s area.  Cody hits Drew with the belt and the referee calls for the bell.

Winner:  Drew McIntyre (by disqualification)

After the match, Cody adjusts the announce table and Drew with thumbs to the eyes.  Drew gets Cody up but Cody escapes and Cody sends Drew into the announce table and they both climb on top.  Cody sets for CrossRhodes on the table and security comes out to pull Drew to safety.

Other officials hold their hands up to stop Cody.  Cody goes up top and hits a cross body onto Drew and security.

Cody wants more while Drew heads up the aisle.

We go to credits.
