Orange Cassidy (C) vs. Nick Wayne
Nick Wayne’s theme hits and out he comes as Cassidy’s opponent. Christian Cage, Wayne’s mom and Killswitch are at ringside with him. The bell sounds and off we go with this title tilt. The two immediately get after it. Cassidy goes for Beach Break early, but Wayne avoids it. Wayne goes for Wayne’s World, but Cassidy avoids that as well.
The two spill out to the floor. Wayne hits a moonsault off the ropes onto Cassidy on the floor. Wayne leaps off the apron for another high spot, continuing to focus his attack on the ribs of the champ. Cassidy starts to fight back, but Cage gets involved. The ref sees this and ejects The Patriarchy from ringside for a big pop.
On that note, we shift gears and head into a mid-match commercial break as the action continues.
When we return, we see Wayne still dominating the action. Cassidy takes over but out comes Matt Taven and Mike Bennett from The Undisputed Kingdom to try and distract him.
Roppongi Vice runs out to make the save. Cassidy hits an Orange Punch for the win. Roderick Strong hits the ring after the match but Cassidy runs him off. We head to another break.
Winner and STILL AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy
Kris Statlander vs. Skye Blue
When we return, we see Renee Paquette backstage with the Bang Bang Scissor Gang. The group makes fun of Max Caster for bailing on his freestyle during the group’s entrance last week. Back inside the arena, Kris Statlander makes her way to the ring.
Skye Blue’s theme hits next and out she comes as the opponent for the former TBS Women’s Champion. The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one. We see Statlander start off strong. As Blue starts to take over, we shift gears and head into a mid-match commercial break as the action in this women’s singles bout continues.
As we settle back in from the break, we see some more shifts in momentum leading to some close near-falls for both ladies. On the floor, we see Julia Hart and Willow Nightingale in a stare down.
This leads to Statlander being slammed into the ring steps. Back in the ring, Blue goes for the roll-up but Statlander kicks out. Stokely Hathaway offers Statlander a chain at ringside. She doesn’t use it. Julia Hart sneaks a title shot into Statlander. Blue follows up with Code Blue for the win.
Winner: Skye Blue
The Young Bucks Continue Search For Sting
Backstage, we see The Young Bucks with their bats outside of Sting’s locker room. They remind each other to be mindful of the fact that when it comes to Sting, the only thing that’s for sure is nothing’s for sure.
They walk into his room ready to attack and see a hundred bats hanging from the ceiling, swinging. They walk up to a mirror and look nervous. We head to another commercial break.
“Lionheart” Chris Jericho vs. Atlantis Jr.
When we return from the break, the name “Lionheart” Chris Jericho appears on the big screen. Out he comes to some Rob Zombie music instead of his usual “Judas” sing-along entrance. He comes out in the vest and yellow/black tights like in his days in Mexico and in the original ECW.
He settles in the ring and his Lionheart ring entrance wraps up. Now CMLL star Atlantis Jr.’s theme hits and out comes the masked man accompanied by his father, Atlantis, also in a mask. Excalibur explains the history between Jericho and Atlantis as the two head to the ring.
The bell sounds and we’re officially off-and-running with this one.
Atlantis tries to shake hands but Jericho sucker-attacks him for the early start. Jericho takes control of Atlantis, who starts to fight back with wild kicks.
He hits a high cross body off the top and the two continue to mix it up as we head into a mid-match break, right after Atlantis nearly drops Jericho on his head on the floor going for a power bomb. Back from the break, Jericho gets Atlantis in the Walls of Jericho and Atlantis Jr. throws in the towel.
Jericho and Atlantis Jr. help Atlantis up after the match. Jericho and Atlantis Jr. stare each other down and have words off-mic and then hug. They all pose together for one final big pop to end the feel-good moment.
Winner: Chris Jericho
The Young Bucks Finally Find Sting
It’s main event (segment) time!
After Excalibur does a speed-read through the updated lineups for this week’s AEW Rampage, AEW Collision and AEW Revolution 2024 shows, we head back inside the Von Braun Center where The Young Bucks’ theme hits. Out comes AEW EVPs Matthew and Nicholas Jackson with bats in-hand.
They make it down to the ringside area and start punking fans wearing Sting masks. One removes his mask to reveal he is Darby Allin, and the fight is on. Allin dukes it out with both Bucks, who eventually take over and start beating him down in two-on-one fashion. They take him in the ring and hit an EVP Trigger.
From there the two get their baseball bats and start beating him down with the bats. The theme for Ric Flair hits and out comes “The Nature Boy” with a big smile on his face. The Bucks clap and then continue putting the boots to Allin.
Flair comes in the ring and they hand him their bat. He takes his jacket off and grabs the bat as they hold Allin. Flair drops the bat and starts punching both Bucks. The Young Bucks take over and now they are beating down the legend in two-on-one fashion. They taunt the crowd as they continue to boo.
The theme for Sting finally hits and the crowd roars. The Bucks head up the ramp with their bats but Sting never comes out the entrance way. Sting is lowered down from the ceiling like he used to do in WCW. The crowd explodes. He makes it down safe, unhooks himself and the Bucks finally notice what is going on.
The Young Bucks run down to deal with Sting, who pulls out his trademark black bat and goes to work beating them both down. Fans chant “Holy sh*t! Holy sh*t!” Darby comes out of nowhere off the top-rope to the floor with a picture-perfect Coffin Drop.
Sting, Darby Allin and Ric Flair stand tall in the ring as Sting’s theme plays again and The Young Bucks back off and head up the ramp. The crowd roars as Sting soaks in the moment and Excalibur wraps things up on the broadcast by plugging Sting’s retirement this Sunday and the shows that precede it on Friday and Saturday. That’s how this week’s show wraps up. Thanks for joining us!
