Backstage Update on Chad Gable’s Return and WWE’s Plans for El Grande Americano

Backstage Update on Chad Gable’s Return and WWE’s Plans for El Grande Americano – Chad Gable is nearing his WWE return, and a new report indicates that the company already has a clear direction for him—one that involves a major heel run in AAA under the El Grande Americano persona.

After spending months recovering from shoulder surgery, Gable is expected back “very, very, very soon,” according to Self Made Pro. The outlet reports that WWE plans to send Gable back into AAA to reclaim the El Grande Americano mask and immediately position him as the promotion’s top heel. This appears to explain why Ludwig Kaiser’s version of the character turned babyface during AAA’s recent Guerra de Titanes event.

“Here’s the deal. At the end of the AAA show, Kaiser’s version of El Grande Americano turned babyface. That’s happening because Chad Gable is returning, and he’s going to come back as the top heel in the promotion. You can expect him back very, very, very soon—both as the heel Grande and as Chad Gable.”

This update aligns with earlier reporting from PWInsider, which noted that Gable was expected at the WWE Performance Center in late November 2025 to resume in‑ring training. His recovery has been ongoing since undergoing shoulder surgery on July 1.

Gable was last seen on WWE television in June 2025, when he was written off TV following an armbreaker spot from Penta—a storyline injury designed to cover for his legitimate shoulder issue. At the time, Gable had been building toward a mask vs. mask match against Penta at SummerSlam under the El Grande Americano gimmick. When the injury forced him out, WWE quietly passed the mask to Ludwig Kaiser, who continued portraying the character at live events and AAA shows.

Kaiser’s recent babyface turn now appears to be a deliberate setup for Gable’s return. With the mask reverting back to its original owner, WWE is preparing to relaunch the El Grande Americano persona with a fresh heel edge.

Gable’s comeback as a villain could breathe new life into the character and strengthen WWE’s ongoing partnership with AAA, giving both promotions a major storyline to build around heading into 2026.
