Jon Moxley Wins 2025 AEW Continental Classic at Worlds End – The 2025 AEW Continental Classic came to its conclusion at the Worlds End pay-per-view on December 27, with two semifinal matches and the tournament final all taking place on the same night. By the end of the evening, a new Continental Champion was crowned, bringing a historic title reign to an end.
The night opened with the first semifinal match, as reigning AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada faced IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Konosuke Takeshita. Both men represented the Don Callis Family, but the match quickly took a controversial turn. Okada produced a screwdriver and used it to secure the victory over his own stablemate. Don Callis, who was on commentary during the bout, appeared surprised by the tactic but still told Okada “good job” after the match, creating visible tension within the group.
The second semifinal saw Jon Moxley take on Kyle Fletcher. Fletcher attempted to locate the same screwdriver Okada had used earlier in the night, but Okada had already taken it with him when he left the ring. Without the weapon, Fletcher was unable to overcome Moxley, who ultimately choked him out to advance to the final. After the bell, Fletcher lashed out, chop-blocking Moxley’s knee in a clear act of frustration.
The tournament final pitted Moxley against Okada, with the Continental Championship on the line. Despite Okada’s lengthy dominance, Moxley managed to overcome the champion and put him away with the Paradigm Shift. The win not only secured Moxley the tournament victory, but also ended Okada’s 648-day reign as AEW Continental Champion.
Following the match, Death Riders members Claudio Castagnoli, Marina Shafir, Wheeler Yuta, and Daniel Garcia joined Moxley in the ring to celebrate. Moxley addressed the crowd, stating that the Continental Classic belt belongs to everyone who competed in the tournament and to the fans, adding that there is no other wrestling organization like AEW.
With this victory, Jon Moxley joins Kazuchika Okada and Eddie Kingston as the only wrestlers to hold the AEW Continental Championship.
