WWE Reportedly Interested in Gabe Kidd and Powerhouse Hobbs

WWE Reportedly Interested in Gabe Kidd and Powerhouse Hobbs – According to new reports, NJPW standout Gabe Kidd is attracting serious interest from both WWE and AEW as his current contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling approaches its expiration.

Dave Meltzer reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Kidd’s deal is expected to expire toward the end of January, noting that most NJPW contracts traditionally conclude around that time. While the exact date has not been confirmed, Kidd’s status has already become a major talking point across multiple promotions.

“Gabe Kidd is another one that they want, I’m sure AEW wants, I’m sure New Japan wants,” Meltzer said. “With Kidd, it’s going to be real interesting with him because I think that he really loves New Japan and New Japan made him a star.”

Kidd has established himself as one of the defining members of Bullet Club War Dogs, carving out a reputation as a gritty, intense performer and a central figure within NJPW’s modern heel landscape. His rise within the company has been closely tied to the War Dogs’ presentation, making him a valuable asset not only in-ring but also as a character-driven presence. That growth is reportedly a key reason New Japan is expected to push hard to retain him.

Beyond Kidd, Meltzer also noted that WWE is keeping a close watch on AEW’s Powerhouse Hobbs. In the same report, Meltzer stated that WWE officials are “very high” on Hobbs, who is currently one-third of the AEW World Trios Champions alongside Samoa Joe and Katsuyori Shibata as part of The Opps.

When asked about Hobbs’ contractual situation, Meltzer suggested there is more interest behind the scenes than has been publicly discussed. “I don’t know [when his contract expires]. But I know that those in WWE really want him,” he said. As of now, there has been no confirmed reporting on the expiration date of Hobbs’ AEW deal.

With WWE actively evaluating outside talent and AEW continuing to secure top names, the coming months could prove pivotal for both Kidd and Hobbs as multiple companies quietly assess their next moves.
