Paul Heyman Praises Penta’s Star Power – Paul Heyman has made it clear that he believes WWE has something special in Penta, and his comments were captured on camera during the second season of WWE: Unreal.
On episode three of the series, which heavily focused on the Mexican star, Heyman was shown speaking inside a writers’ room in Stamford, Connecticut. The discussion took place roughly one week after the 2025 Money in the Bank event, with members of WWE’s creative team listening closely as Heyman broke down why Penta stands out.
Heyman emphasized that true star power goes beyond a strong entrance reaction. “I know we said this in advance. I know we said this once he debuted, but we got something with this f**king Penta,” Heyman said. He then explained the difference between a surface-level reaction and genuine crowd investment. “Here are two things over time that you learn. You listen to the star pop when they come out, but you understand it’s just a star pop. In the match, when they’re selling and they start to come up, what’s the reaction?”
According to Heyman, the most telling moment happens during a wrestler’s comeback. “Because that’s when they have to care about you to make your comeback. It’s those 30 seconds, and you’re selling, and you’re coming up, it’s like, ‘Goddammit, I need to do this. I need to’ and they rally behind you,” he said. Heyman then delivered his blunt assessment of Penta’s connection with the audience: “Penta is over like a motherfcker.”*
Penta competed in the men’s Money in the Bank ladder match that night. While he did not win, with Seth Rollins ultimately securing the briefcase, Heyman pointed to a specific moment as proof of Penta’s momentum. “When (Penta) made that move for the ladder, they wanted him to win so bad,” Heyman said. He later reinforced his stance by adding, “I’m telling you: we’ve got something really special with him.”
The comments highlight how highly Penta is regarded internally, even without a major victory to his name yet. From Heyman’s perspective, the crowd reactions during key moments of struggle and recovery are evidence that Penta has already crossed the line from impressive newcomer to emotionally invested star, positioning him as a potential centerpiece for WWE’s future plans.
