The second hour of this week’s WWE RAW closed with a major title change as Dominik Mysterio defended the Intercontinental Championship against Penta.
Before the match, Mysterio had an odd backstage encounter with Danhausen, who “cursed” the champion. What seemed like a joke quickly turned into reality, as Mysterio’s 94-day reign came to an abrupt end.
Judgment Day Tension Costs Dominik
Late in the match, Dominik signaled for help from Judgment Day teammates Finn Bálor and JD McDonagh. He demanded his championship belt be handed to him, seemingly preparing to use it as a weapon.
McDonagh grabbed the title and nearly slid it into the ring, but Bálor stopped him, reminding him that Dominik had insisted he didn’t want their help. The hesitation proved costly.
Moments later, Penta capitalized and drilled Mysterio with a Mexican Destroyer in the center of the ring to secure the three count and capture the Intercontinental Championship.
This marks Penta’s first major championship victory since 2023, when he and Rey Fenix won the ROH World Tag Team Championships.
With the victory, Penta adds the Intercontinental Championship to his résumé and brings an explosive new dynamic to RAW’s mid-card division. Meanwhile, questions now swirl around Dominik Mysterio and the visible cracks within Judgment Day.
