Drew McIntyre Slams "Hooligan" Nick Aldis Over SmackDown Title Twist

Drew McIntyre Slams “Hooligan” Nick Aldis Over SmackDown Title Twist – Drew McIntyre is furious following the shock announcement regarding the future of his WWE Championship.

After the events of Elimination Chamber in Chicago, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis revealed that McIntyre must defend his title against Cody Rhodes on the March 6 episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

According to McIntyre, this decision is a direct violation of a legal agreement. Speaking with Complex Graps, the champion did not hold back his thoughts on Aldis or the “American Nightmare.”

“It’s BS. It’s as simple as that. I seem to recall there being a certain contract, it wasn’t Cody gets a rematch if Drew decides to interfere in every match for the rest of time. It says Cody gets no rematch, he has to win the Royal Rumble, he has to win the Elimination Chamber, he won neither. The small print didn’t say beside that if Drew does this or if Drew gets involved in a match. Nick Aldis, that hooligan, made the match, breached a contract and I’m currently figuring out how this match is even happening in the first place. I said all along, anybody but Cody. I’m in this situation where I’ve got to fight him on Friday. I’m talking to the lawyers, I’m gonna figure it out,” McIntyre stated.

The champion also criticized the General Manager’s behavior during their recent backstage confrontation.

“You saw what happened with Nick — he’s too hotheaded to be a GM, he gets in my face and rips off his jacket. I mean, I’m 6”5 and 280, I can drop him on his arse any second. Imagine it’s one of the little guys, which is basically 80% the rest of the roster. Imagine it’s one of the females in that situation. Somebody like that in power, somebody like that protecting Cody. As far as I’m concerned, it’s BS. It’s the same old story, trying to screw Drew McIntyre. Whatever happens on Friday, I’m gonna make sure I leave that match with this championship and head into WrestleMania as champion,” McIntyre concluded.

The WrestleMania 42 Landscape

As noted, recent reports suggest the internal plan for WrestleMania 42 involves Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton. Sources indicate that both stars were aware of this creative direction as early as January. The decision to have Rhodes drop the title earlier this year was reportedly a strategic move to allow him to compete in high-stakes matches like the Royal Rumble and Elimination Chamber to drive fan interest.

If Rhodes defeats McIntyre this Friday, it would officially set the stage for a showdown with “The Viper” in Las Vegas. As for McIntyre, should he lose the gold, current rumors suggest he may move into a high-profile rivalry with Jacob Fatu. This would allow McIntyre to wrap up his WWE obligations before he begins filming the Highlander reboot immediately after WrestleMania.
