Roman Reigns delivered on his promise at WrestleMania 42, defeating CM Punk to capture the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the Night Two main event.
The match lived up to expectations, with both men trading heavy strikes from the opening moments. The pace stayed intense throughout, as each competitor looked to gain the upper hand in what quickly became a physical contest.
Reigns took control during key stretches, including a sequence where he delivered multiple Superman Punches to Punk while he was trapped upside down on the ropes. He also used the steel steps to land a major blow, increasing the damage on the challenger.
Punk responded with offense of his own, including an attempt to use an ula fala from the crowd. He also looked to turn Reigns’ own move against him by attempting a Spear, but was unable to connect successfully.
As the match progressed, both men showed signs of exhaustion and were visibly bloodied. The action slowed briefly as they exchanged submission attempts on the mat, each trying to force the other to give in.
Punk came close to victory after hitting a Go To Sleep. He attempted to follow up with a second, but collapsed under the weight of Reigns, allowing the momentum to shift once again.
Reigns answered with a Spear, though he was unable to capitalize immediately. Both competitors remained down before Reigns regained his footing and delivered a final Spear, securing the three-count.
With the victory, Reigns becomes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion for the first time and adds a seventh world title to his career in WWE.
