A high-stakes stipulation has been made official for AEW Double or Nothing, as Darby Allin will defend his AEW World Championship against MJF in a title vs. hair match.
The bout was confirmed following the May 13 episode of AEW Dynamite, where Allin successfully defended the championship against Konosuke Takeshita in the main event. After the match, MJF made his way to the ring to finalize the contract for their rematch.
MJF signed the agreement, though not without hesitation, before verbally targeting Allin and downplaying his accomplishments as champion. Allin responded, leading to a tense exchange between the two. The situation quickly escalated when MJF attacked, dropping Allin and knocking him out using the Dynamite Diamond Ring.
MJF continued the assault and returned to the ring, where he attempted to deliver a second-rope tombstone piledriver. The attack was stopped when Kevin Knight ran in to make the save.
The stipulation stems from the previous week, when Allin made it clear he would only grant MJF a rematch if he put something valuable on the line. That condition was later revealed to be MJF’s hair. Earlier in the same Dynamite broadcast, it was also stated that Allin would refuse to defend the title against MJF again if the challenger declined the terms for Double or Nothing.
This match serves as a rematch from last month, when Allin defeated MJF to win the AEW World Championship in Everett, Washington. The victory came as a surprise and ended MJF’s reign, prompting his ongoing push for another opportunity.
Since capturing the title, Allin has already recorded five successful defenses. Meanwhile, MJF is aiming to secure his third run as AEW World Champion when the two meet again under the added stipulation.
