Garrett Borden, the eldest son of Sting, has officially begun his professional wrestling career, scoring a victory in his in-ring debut at the Rhodes Wrestling Association’s Final Reckoning event in Leander, Texas.
Borden defeated Brandon Barretta in singles competition, incorporating a tribute to his father along the way. During the match, he delivered the iconic Stinger Splash in the corner before finishing Barretta with a combination Angle Slam into a neckbreaker to secure the pinfall.
The debut marks a significant step for Borden, who had previously appeared on All Elite Wrestling programming during his father’s retirement run. At AEW Revolution 2024, Garrett portrayed “Surfer Sting,” while his younger brother, Steven Borden Jr., appeared in Wolfpac-inspired gear during Sting’s final match.
Both sons had spent years outside the wrestling business before becoming involved during Sting’s farewell tour.
Steven Borden Jr. is currently further along in his in-ring development. He made his debut in October 2025, teaming with JD Drake against Darby Allin and Killer Kross. Since then, he has competed in dark matches for AEW and Ring of Honor, and also picked up a win in his New Japan Pro-Wrestling debut earlier this year.
Garrett’s wrestling ties extend beyond his own training. His wife previously competed under the name Jael through the Rhodes Wrestling Academy before stepping away in 2025 following the birth of their son. She now works within AEW’s community outreach initiatives.
The Rhodes Wrestling Association and its affiliated academy are operated by Dustin Rhodes, the older half-brother of Cody Rhodes and a longtime tag team partner of Sting.
The Final Reckoning event also featured Brock Anderson, son of Arn Anderson, along with several academy graduates.
Sting officially retired at AEW Revolution 2024 in Greensboro, North Carolina, closing out a 39-year career with a victory alongside Darby Allin over The Young Bucks, finishing his AEW run undefeated.
