WWE has made a late change to one of the featured matches at this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event, raising the stakes for Sol Ruca in a major way.
What was originally announced as a non-title bout against Becky Lynch has now been upgraded. The Women’s Intercontinental Championship will officially be on the line when the two meet in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The shift comes just days after Lynch stated on the May 18 episode of RAW that Ruca had not done enough to earn a title opportunity. During that segment, Lynch pointed to Ruca’s recent losses since her call-up from NXT and made it clear she had no intention of defending the championship.
Despite that stance, WWE later released an updated match graphic on social media confirming the title stipulation. The announcement read: “@beckylynchwwe puts the Women’s #ICTitle on the line this weekend at #SNME against @solrvca!”
No explanation has been provided on television for the sudden change. Lynch has not addressed the update directly in character, though she did share the graphic on her Instagram story. Earlier in the week, she referred to herself as a “fighting champion” on Threads, which aligns with the decision to put the title up for grabs.
For Ruca, this marks her first championship opportunity since joining the RAW roster following WrestleMania 42. She previously held the NXT Women’s North American Championship and the WWE Women’s Speed Championship, building a reputation for standout in-ring performances.
WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event takes place on May 23, 2026, at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum in Fort Wayne, Indiana. With this update, four of the five announced matches on the card now feature championships on the line.
The late stipulation change adds further importance to the matchup, as Ruca now has a chance to capture her first main roster title in a high-profile setting.
