News & Notes From Double or Nothing Media Scrum – Tony Khan did not rule out the possibility of All Elite Wrestling running a major event during the same weekend as WrestleMania 43, which is scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia in April 2027.
Speaking during the Double or Nothing media scrum in Queens, Khan was asked whether AEW could capitalize on the absence of a traditional domestic WrestleMania weekend in the United States. His response left the door open.
“I think it is potentially viable,” Khan said. “And it’s a very interesting thought. We’ll have to see what happens in the world landscape between now and then, but it’s a very interesting possibility.”
Khan’s comments suggest AEW could explore running a major show to attract fans who typically travel for WrestleMania week, though no official plans have been announced.
The media scrum also featured Will Ospreay and Thekla, both of whom addressed a range of topics following the event.
Ospreay spoke about a potential clash with Swerve Strickland in the Owen Hart Foundation tournament, noting that the two have not interacted in a year and expressing interest in how things could develop. He also reflected on his long-standing dream of headlining Wembley Stadium, explaining that he grew up working there with his family and wants to win a meaningful title on that stage.
Thekla shared confidence in her current run, stating, “I always knew I was good, now I know I am the f**ing best,”* while also predicting Skye Blue to win the Owen Hart tournament.
Khan covered several additional topics during the session. He described Double or Nothing as “one of the best nights in the history of the company,” and praised Mick Foley and Renee Paquette as a strong pairing going forward.
He also addressed the MyAEW platform, noting that it will focus heavily on international markets while still including domestic elements and potentially other promotions. Discussing Madison Square Garden, Khan revisited the story of AEW’s early plans to run the venue, comparing the situation to Lucy pulling the football away from Charlie Brown.
Additional comments included his thoughts on differentiating AEW from Ring of Honor, where he plans to spotlight younger talent and emphasize pure wrestling rules, while still featuring established veterans.
Khan also praised Darby Allin for his recent world title run and expressed interest in hearing from Kevin Knight following his post-match attack at Double or Nothing.
Looking ahead, Khan noted that this week’s AEW Dynamite card will depend on medical clearances. He also sent well wishes to Rebel and mentioned the possibility of hosting a Fight for the Fallen event to support ALS research.
