Cody Rhodes Interview — Countdown to WWE Clash in Italy
Joe Tessitore sat down with Cody and brought up the attack that happened after his WrestleMania match. Cody said everything anyone needed to know about him happened after the bell — he got up, he walked, and he made eye contact with as many people as he could to show he was still the champion, still standing, and if that was Randy’s best shot, that says plenty. Cody admitted he’s very lucky, and he doesn’t know how much luck he has left.
Joe asked about spending time with his family. Cody said there’s no healing like healing with your family. He mentioned how his father used to talk about walking around the house beat up, and having a young child ask what happened or if he was okay.
Joe then asked about Cody returning so quickly. Cody said it was important to him — he has to be consistent. People joke about him doing the Cena schedule, but what else is he supposed to follow? He needs the challenges.
Cody reflected on the fact that it’s been ten years since he left WWE. He said it’s been a gift to make the right decisions, to do the right things, but also to make mistakes. That’s his life.
Becky Lynch Interview — Countdown to WWE Clash in Italy
Corey Graves sat down with Becky Lynch and asked her about her WrestleMania victory. Becky said it was an incredible night and reminded everyone she never actually lost the title — biased referees cost her, not a better opponent.
Corey brought up Sol Ruca confronting her on the Raw after WrestleMania. Becky called Sol a troublemaker. She said she had a contract signing scheduled and was in the middle of her celebration when Sol decided to get in her face. Becky insisted Sol attacked her for no reason.
Corey asked about their match at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Becky said she had Sol dead to rights, and somehow she got disqualified for trying to pull the referee out of harm’s way. She even pointed out she saved Jessika Carr, despite not liking her.
Corey then asked about Sol challenging her again. Becky said Sol isn’t ready and has bitten off more than she can chew. She said Sol will run home to America while Becky celebrates with her family in Europe.
Sol Ruca Interview — Countdown to WWE Clash in Italy
Sol said she was honored to be there when asked about the crowd reaction.
Joe Tessitore brought up Becky saying she isn’t ready. Sol said Becky has no idea what she’s gone through or how she trained, and she’s here to prove Becky wrong.
Big E asked about her health, and Sol said she was medically cleared this morning.
Corey asked if that would be an issue. Sol said it’s wild to think she’s only been doing this for four years and she’s already faced names like Liv Morgan, Iyo Sky, and Becky Lynch. She said she belongs here.
Sol added that Becky will do whatever it takes to win, but she’s used to deep, unpredictable waters thanks to her surfing background. She said she’ll do whatever it takes to win the title.
We Hear from Paul Heyman
Paul Heyman cut off Cathy Kelley as she was talking about Oba Femi’s WrestleMania win.
Paul said Cathy wanted to talk about how there’s no denying what Oba did to Brock at WrestleMania — he beat him so badly that Brock retired. But Brock can’t live with that, so he’s going to do something about it. WrestleMania was Oba’s night, Paul said, but that was just one night. Brock Lesnar has been dominant for twenty‑five years. Tonight, Paul promised, would be Brock Lesnar’s night. And we’ll see how Oba recovers from the beating Brock plans to give him.
Wade Barrett Interview with Gunther — Countdown to WWE Clash in Italy
Wade sat down with Gunther and brought up his growing reputation for ending careers, even being called the Career Killer. Gunther said he appreciates the title.
Wade mentioned how people complain about him gloating after those wins. Gunther said the fans treat those wrestlers like heroes, but they aren’t heroes to him. To him, it’s a great feeling to do what he does.
Wade shifted to Gunther’s move to SmackDown and his title match with Cody, asking about the mind games. Gunther said he doesn’t like Cody’s approach. Cody has beaten him a few times, and there’s a score to settle.
Wade asked if there was any doubt. Gunther said he doesn’t waste time with doubt.
Wade then asked if being in Europe gives him an advantage. Gunther said he’s simply the better wrestler. The environment will be different in Europe, but he doesn’t care if the crowd cheers or boos. If the people support him over Cody, he said Cody won’t be able to handle it.
Joe and Cody — Continued Interview
Joe asked Cody for his thoughts on Gunther. Cody asked if beating John Cena makes Gunther dangerous. He said Gunther got Cena at the end of his career. He beat AJ Styles at the end of his career. Cody said he’s not going to fear Gunther for ending the careers of wrestlers whose time was already winding down. He’ll fear Gunther if Gunther is at his absolute best. Cody said he has Gunther’s number, and he won’t be added to the list of careers Gunther has ended. He called this the first real prize fight Gunther has had in a long time.
Joe asked about Cody’s strategy. Cody said you have to avoid the chop and keep Gunther moving. The longer the match goes, the less Gunther has in the tank.
Cody said Gunther has the most intimidating look in his eyes — that look that says he thinks Cody is getting tired. Cody said that motivates him, because he’s not done yet. He said he needs to beat Gunther more than Gunther needs to beat him.

WWE Clash in Italy Preview
Jacob Fatu failed to win the World Heavyweight Championship from Roman Reigns at WWE Backlash on May 9. However, he gets another chance today in a Tribal Combat Match. Their feud grew even more intense on the May 11 episode of Raw when Fatu left Reigns laid out in the ring. One week later, Reigns and The Usos struck back. They trapped Fatu in the ropes and hit him with repeated Superman Punches and double superkicks. Their rivalry reached a breaking point this past Monday during a heated face‑to‑face exchange. Fatu agreed to serve Reigns if he loses today, and Reigns agreed to acknowledge Fatu if he loses. As a result, both men enter the match with high stakes and personal pride on the line.
Cody Rhodes defends the Undisputed WWE Championship for the first time since beating Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42 Night One. He faces GUNTHER. Their issues began on the May 1 episode of SmackDown when GUNTHER blindsided Rhodes with an attack. One week later, Paul Heyman confronted Rhodes and explained that he owed GUNTHER a favor, which led to tonight’s title match. Royce Keys tried to take the opportunity for himself during a contract signing on May 15, but GUNTHER beat Keys later that night in a Number One Contender’s Match. Because of that win, GUNTHER now gets his shot at the championship.
Rhea Ripley defends the Women’s Championship for the first time since winning it. She faces Jade Cargill. Their rivalry has lasted for months. Ripley defeated Cargill for the title at WrestleMania 42 Night Two. They met again at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23 in a Six Woman Tag Match. Cargill, Michin, and B‑Fab beat Ripley, Charlotte Flair, and Alexa Bliss. Cargill then beat Bliss in singles action on SmackDown this past Friday and left her down in the ring after hitting a Jaded onto a chair. Because of all this, Ripley and Cargill now meet with the title on the line.
Becky Lynch defends the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Sol Ruca despite Lynch claiming online that Ruca is not medically cleared. Their tension has grown over the last few weeks. They argued on the May 18 episode of Raw. They then met again at Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23 in a non‑title match. Ruca won by disqualification after Lynch pulled the referee in front of her to block a Sol Snatcher. Lynch attacked Ruca after the match, but SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis appeared and informed Lynch that the title match would still happen today. He spoke on behalf of Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. As a result, the match now moves forward with even more hostility.
Brock Lesnar returns to the ring for the first time since WrestleMania 42 Night Two. He faces Oba Femi. Femi beat Lesnar in quick fashion at WrestleMania, and Lesnar left his gloves and boots in the ring afterward, which made many fans think he had retired. However, Lesnar returned on the May 18 episode of Raw and attacked Femi from behind before the Open Challenge could begin. Paul Heyman later told Adam Pearce that Lesnar wanted one more match and handed him the contract for today’s bout. Because of that, Lesnar and Femi now meet again with unfinished business.
