Ilja Dragunov Earns NXT Title Match – Ilja Dragunov defeated Bron Breakker on the July 11 episode of NXT, earning himself an NXT Championship match against Carmelo Hayes at NXT Great American Bash on July 30.
The finish saw Breakker hit a clothesline and set up for a spear. As Breakker charged in, Ilja caught him with a knee to the head followed by the Torpedo Moscow to the back of Bron’s head for the victory.
This will mark Dragunov’s first singles shot at the NXT Championship. He previously challenged for the NXT Title in a triple threat bout against champion Bron Breakker and fellow challenger JD McDonagh at NXT Halloween Havoc 2022.
