Will Ospreay to Challenge for AEW World Championship at Forbidden Door – Will Ospreay secured his shot at the AEW World Title by winning a casino gauntlet match on 5/29 episode of Dynamite. This victory grants him the opportunity to face Swerve Strickland for the World Championship at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view on Sunday, June 30.

In the casino gauntlet match, Ospreay outlasted a competitive field that included Jay White, PAC, Mistico, Shota Umino, Claudio Castagnoli, Lio Rush, Orange Cassidy, and Hechicero. After his win, Strickland entered the ring for a tense staredown with Ospreay, setting the stage for their upcoming clash.

Ospreay is also the reigning AEW International Champion, having claimed the title by defeating Roderick Strong at last Sunday’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view.

The bout between Swerve Strickland and Will Ospreay is the first officially announced match for AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door, scheduled for Sunday, June 30, at the UBS Arena on Long Island, New York.

As noted, a ladder match to determine the new TNT Champion, following Adam Copeland’s injury, will also take place at the event. Qualifying matches for this ladder match will begin on this week’s AEW Rampage.
