WWE SmackDown Tops Cable on July 4 Despite Lowest Viewership of 2025 – The July 4th edition of WWE SmackDown delivered the lowest total viewership of 2025 so far, but still managed to top the night on cable television.
According to Programming Insider, Friday’s SmackDown drew 1.166 million viewers on USA Network, a steep drop from the 1.450 million viewers on June 27. The episode also saw a significant decline in the key 18–49 demographic, scoring a 0.32 rating compared to the previous week’s 0.41.
While these numbers reflect a sharp decline, the drop was largely anticipated given that the show aired on a national holiday in the United States and was taped in advance. Despite the lower-than-usual turnout, SmackDown still ranked #1 among all cable programs that night — highlighting WWE’s continued strength in key demos, even under less-than-ideal circumstances.
The July 4 show featured fallout from the recent storyline involving The Bloodline and the return of Drew McIntyre, among other key developments heading into WWE Evolution. Several segments and matches from the show gained significant traction online.

While the Independence Day holiday impacted live TV viewership, SmackDown’s position atop cable rankings reinforces WWE’s dependable presence in prime time, even during traditionally low-performing nights.
