FTR vs. JetSpeed
The bell rings and FTR waste no time raining down right hands on Bailey and Knight. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler send Knight crashing out of the ring and rain down right hands on Bailey, then set up for Shatter Machine on him. Bailey escapes and pins Harwood, but Harwood kicks out.
Bailey and Knight fly over the top rope to level FTR on the outside, and Bailey dumps Harwood back in the ring. Harwood responds with a chop to Bailey, then fires off stomps on him in the corner. Bailey and Harwood exchange right hands with one another, but Harwood levels Bailey with a back elbow. Bailey lands a back body drop on Harwood on the bottom of the entrance ramp, and Knight delivers one of his own to Wheeler.
Back from the break, Knight and Bailey double team on Harwood in the ring. Knight delivers a splash to Harwood off the top inside the ring, and Bailey delivers a moonsault off the ropes to level Wheeler on the outside.
Harwood sends Knight’s knee bouncing off the ring post twice, then rakes his face and cinches in a Figure Eight Leg Lock on him using the ring post. Bailey breaks up the submission by firing off rapid fire kicks on Harwood’s chest, but Wheeler delivers a Dragon SCrew to Bailey.
Harwood delivers a Dragon Screw of his own to Knight back in the ring and cinches in a Sharpshooter on him as Wheeler locks one in on Bailey on the outside. Knight and Bailey escape, but Harwood sits Knight on the tope rope and joins him up there a sWheeler ascends to the top on the other side of the ring. Harwood delivers a superplex to Knight and Wheeler follows it up with a crossbody, but Bailey delivers a Shooting Star Press to Harwood. Knight then pins Harwood, but Harwood kicks out.
Back from another break, Bailey slips out of the way of FTR’s path and delivers a moonsault to them on the outside over the top rope. He delivers a pair of flipping knees to Harwood back inside the ring, but Wheeler sends Bailey crashing into one of the barricades. Bailey sends Wheeler flying over the barricade and delivers a running crossbody to level him. Back in the ring, Knight sets up for the UFO Splash on Harwood. Harwood gets his knees up and rolls up Knight, but Knight kicks out. Harwood lands a powerbomb on Bailey, but Knight rolls up Harwood. Harwood kicks out, then pins Knight as Hathaway extends him his crutch to hold onto for assistance for the win.
Winners and ADVANCING: FTR
Adam Copeland Strikes Again!
Once the match wraps up, the commentators give us a look at the bracket of the tournament, which continues on Collision. Tony Schiavone is in the ring with FTR and Stoke as the crowd starts booing. Tony talks about what Cope said last week, as Hathaway says that Adam Copeland should be in prison.
He had no business putting his hands on Big Stoke last week, and he is a horrible human being and a loser. “He’s a cancer to AEW, and it doesn’t matter what anyone says….” before he can finish, the theme for Adam Copeland hits and out comes “The Rated-R Superstar.”
Cope gets on the microphone. Hathaway calls for his “stupid music” to be cut, the crowd still singing for a moment after it ends. Stoke says he made it clear that Adam is not allowed to be in the vicinity of FTR, so what is he doing here? Cope says he forgot about all that, but he made a deal with some businessmen who can do what he can’t.
He then points out that these people are hired to hurt people. That’s their business. Out comes the Hurt Syndicate, as Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin go after FTR. They start brawling as officials look to break things up. Bobby sends Wheeler into the barricade as just part of the chaos before they’re forced to leave ringside.
Back in the ring, Cope goes after Stoke with a spear, but it lands on a security guard instead as Hathaway escapes the ring. Cope’s music plays as we cut away. That’s how the eventful post-match scene wraps up.
We shoot backstage, where Nick Wayne is standing by with Mama Wayne and Kip Sabian. He talks about promises broken and the promise Nick Wayne will make to prove himself at Collision, saying he will be uncaged. Will Ospreay is walking the halls after that. He is up next. We head to a break.
When we return, we see Jon Moxley talking about coming up short. He’s not gonna bitch. He’s gonna invoke his rematch clause. He sends a message to Hangman Page and walks off, Marina Shafir hangs back to mean-mug the camera before leaving as well. Inside the arena, Will Ospreay’s theme hits.
Will Ospreay Returns And Speaks
Tony Schiavone, in the ring, introduces “The Aerial Assassin,” who comes to the ring. Schiavone asks him about the match he had at All In: Texas and the damage done by the Death Riders, with Ospreay saying Khan didn’t know he was gonna be here as he flew himself in.
Will says he’s been dealing with neck issues for over ten months, not quite being on the level with the medical team. He apologies for hiding this but says he wanted to get us over the finish line. He talks about making sacrifices and the fact they managed to get that title back.
He says but after what the Death Riders did he was rushed to a hospital room for an MRI. They found issues in two of his vertebrae, though the doctors did say it was treatable and he is hoping to be back in action in time for Forbidden Door.
From there, he thanks Swerve for his help at All In Texas and congratulates Page on winning the title, reminding him he is wanting that rematch sometime soon. As for the Death Riders, it’s eye for an eye, so he will come after them soon enough. He goes to leave, but Swerve comes out and hugs him first.
We then head backstage, where MJF confronts The Hurt Syndicate about leaving him behind earlier tonight and not having his back against “Hangman” Adam Page. Bobby Lashley goes after MJF and tells him that he wants him out of The Hurt Syndicate and storms off. Shelton Benjamin and MVP both shake their heads and leave.
Toni Storm vs. Billie Starkz (w/ Athena) in an AEW Women’s World Championship Eliminator Match
The bell rings and the two lock up. Starkz delivers a tope suicida to Storm on the outside, then lands a suplex on her back in the ring,
Back from the break, Storm delivers a sit-out powerbomb to Starkz. Starkz sends Storm’s head bouncing off her knee and goes for a pin, but Storm kicks out. Storm delivers a suplex to Starkz and goes for a pin, but Starkz kicks out and delivers a pump kick to Storm. She gets Storm in an Electric Chair position, but Storm escapes by rolling up Starkz. Starkz reverses the fall, but Storm kicks out and delivers a German suplex to her. She follows it up with a Hip Attack to Starkz and looks to roll her up, but Starkz sits down into a pin of her own.
Storm kicks out, but Starkz ascends to the top rope and looks to land a Swanton Bomb. Storm gets her knees up and cinches in a Sleeper on Starkz. Starkz taps out.
Winner: Toni Storm
After the match, Starkz hits STorm with the AEW Women’s World Championship and tells Athena to join her in the ring. Athena does so, but the referee tries to stop Starkz. Starkz dumps the referee out of the ring, and Athena joins her inside. She hits Storm with her contract and sends her head repeatedly bouncing off the ring steps, then lands a running knee on her and dumps her back in the ring. Athan hits Storm with her contract once again and Starkz dumps the referee back in the ring. Athena looks to cash in her contract, but Alex Windsor’s music hits and she runs down to the ring. She rains down right hands on Athena and levels Starkz with a forearm.
Swerve Strickland (w/ Prince Nana) vs. Hechicero (w/ Don Callis)
The bell rings and the two lock up. Hechicero lands a Flapjack on Strickland.
Back from the break, Hechicero lands a knee strike on Strickland in the corner and sends him crashing into the mat. Strickland responds with a forearm to Hechicero off the middle rope, then delivers a 450 Splash to him and goes for a pin. Hechicero kicks out, then cinches in a Fujiwara Arm Bar on Strickland. He counters into a pinfall, but Strickland kicks out and Hechicero sends Strickland crashing into the mat with a Uranage. Strickland ascends to the top rope, but Lance Archer pushes Nana out of the way and pushes Strickland off the top rope to cause the disqualification.
Winner: Swerve Strickland (via disqualification)
After the match, Hechicero and Archer look to continue to beat down Strickland as Josh Alexander watches on from ringside, but Bandido and Brody King come to Strickland’s aid and brawl with Hechicero and Archer to the back. Kazuchika Okada sneaks up behind Strickland and hits him with a chair across his spine, then looks to send him crashing on it. Strickland escapes and sends Okada crashing onto the chair with a headbutt, then places the chair around his neck. Alexander and Callis help Okada out of the ring before Strickland can do anything else.
Backstage With Ricochet & Gates Of Agony
After footage is shown of Ricochet and AR Fox from Collision, with the Gates of Agony later winning their tag match, we shoot live backstage. Ricochet and “GOA” gloat about their victories on Saturday night. Ricochet says they will invest the 200K they won toward their quest for gold, and everyone will respect them or fear them. He says that is a “demand,” then finishes with his Jadakiss ad-lib laugh rip-off. The show heads to another break.
MJF makes his way to the ring and says he doesn’t need Bobby Lashley to get back the AEW World Championship and puts “Hangman” Adam Page on notice, but Mark Briscoe’s music hits and he makes his way out. He says he wants to face MJF in the ring and challenges him to a match next week, but MJF says no and tells Mark that he has no love lost for him. He continues to rag on Mark and invokes Jay Briscoe’s name, promoting Mark to run down to teh ring and MJF to subsequently retraet.
Mark Briscoe vs. Claudio Castagnoli
With Briscoe already in the ring, Claudio Castagnoli’s music as he makes his way through the crowd to head out for our main event. Claudio arrives at the ring as we get underway. Claudio sends Briscoe to the corner for a chop, but Mark stands up to him before pushing Castagnoli to the corner for some strikes of his own.
This leads to them trading blows in the middle of the ring. This ends with Claudio sending Briscoe to the ropes, but Mark strikes back sending him to the mat instead. After a boot to the face, Briscoe stays on the attack, sending Castagnoli to the corner before Claudio turn things around for a series of stomps to the midsection.
The ref forces him to back off as Briscoe manages to find his footing, taking the fight to Claudio from the apron before sending him to the floor outside. Claudio back in, but Briscoe doesn’t let up as he sends him over the top rope with a clothesline, but Claudio blocks a scissors kick.
This sets Mark up for a giant swing into the barricade. On that note, we shift gears and head into a mid-match commercial break as the action in our main event of the evening continues. We return and see the fight has made its way to the turnbuckle as Briscoe sends Claudio down with a hard chop.
Seconds later, he jumps into a European uppercut by Castagnoli for a near-fall. “Dem Boys” chant tries to will Briscoe back into the match as Claudio steps on his hand, but finds himself distracted by the presence of Darby Allin in the crowd.
This allows Briscoe to fight back from the ropes for an elbow strike to send Castagnoli to the corner. Claudio blocks an exploder but gets driven down with a kick for Mark to get a two count. Briscoe sends Claudio through the ropes before landing a cannonball dive through the ropes.
He stands on the table for a Cactus Jack elbow onto Castagnoli. He gets on the barricade now, landing another shot on Claudio before sending him back into the ring. Briscoe goes up top and lands a Froggy Bow for the cover, but Claudio narrowly kicks out in the nick of time. Moments later, Briscoe gets the roll-up for the win.
Winner: Mark Briscoe
Big Main Event Set For Next Week
After the match, as a post-match attack continues with Jon Moxley and others, Hangman Page comes down and tells Jon Moxley their rematch is on for next week, but under his rules.
It will be on AEW Dynamite next week and everyone will be banned from ringside. That’s how this week’s show wraps up. Thanks for joining us!
