Original SummerSlam Plans for Jey Uso – A new report has revealed that the scheduled match between Jey Uso and Bronson Reed on tonight’s episode of WWE RAW was initially intended to be a high-profile singles match at WWE SummerSlam 2025.
On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer confirmed that the showdown between Uso and Reed was originally booked for SummerSlam weekend. However, plans have changed, and WWE is now moving the match to tonight’s RAW instead.
“Bronson Reed and Jey Uso was originally a SummerSlam match,” Meltzer reported.
According to Meltzer, WWE has shifted directions and is now building toward a major tag team match at SummerSlam. The revised bout will feature the recently reunited Roman Reigns and Jey Uso teaming up against Bronson Reed and his new partner, Bron Breakker. Meltzer suggested that tonight’s singles match will likely set up the final chapter in the lead-up to that tag bout.
“I presume that this will just end up being something where, you know, Roman Reigns and, you know, and Bron Breakker end up interfering,” Meltzer added.
Roman Reigns made a surprise return to WWE television two weeks ago after months of absence. His return immediately sparked involvement in Jey Uso’s ongoing rivalry on RAW, shifting the landscape of the brand just ahead of WWE’s biggest event of the summer.
Tonight’s episode of RAW is expected to feature a major development in this storyline, with fans anticipating possible interference from Reigns and Breakker to fully set the stage for SummerSlam.
WWE SummerSlam will air live across two nights—Saturday, August 2 and Sunday, August 3—and is expected to feature multiple marquee matches, including this newly adjusted tag team showdown.
