Pat McAfee Set for WWE Return at Wrestlepalooza – As noted, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H appeared on SportsCenter today to promote the company’s debut event under its new partnership with ESPN. Wrestlepalooza, set for September 20, will stream live on the ESPN app, and Triple H confirmed a major name will be returning for the broadcast.
During the appearance, Triple H announced that Pat McAfee will be back with WWE next month to join the commentary team for Wrestlepalooza.
“September 20th, Wrestlepalooza, in the home of the one and the only Pat McAfee, who’s like family to us. Pat will be there,” Triple H said. “He’s going to light the place up. It’s going to be exciting.”
McAfee, who has become one of WWE’s most popular commentators and personalities, has not appeared on WWE programming since the June 2 episode of RAW. Following his absence, McAfee explained on his ESPN show that he needed time away due to burnout, which led to his temporary break from the company.
While his return at Wrestlepalooza will be a big crossover moment for WWE and ESPN, the timing also falls in the middle of the college football season, where McAfee is a key figure on ESPN’s College GameDay. Because of this, it’s unlikely that his WWE comeback will be a full-time commitment, but his presence at Wrestlepalooza highlights WWE’s effort to make its ESPN debut a major event.
