Mone also touched on the WWE audience’s involvement in the historic match, stating that the fans in the Barclays Center elevated the moment, with many being aware that she and Bayley were about to change the industry forever.
“The fans played an integral role in creating the magic of that match. Their cheers, their boos, and the electric atmosphere propelled us forward. Before we even locked up, you could feel the anticipation in the air; everyone knew we were about to create something special. And create what we did! Bayley and I took risks that night—pushing boundaries that had never been crossed by women in North America before.”
Mone continued to explain that she and Bayley chose to keep half of their ideas for the match a secret, as they were afraid WWE’s trainers would prohibit them from performing certain moves in the ring. However, Mone and Bayley believed in the match they had put together and recognized beforehand that they were given the opportunity to create history.
