Cody Rhodes And Drew McIntyre Brawl to End SmackDown

Cody Rhodes And Drew McIntyre Brawl to End SmackDown – The October 17 episode of WWE SmackDown from San Jose was meant to determine a new number one contender for the Undisputed WWE Championship, but the night took a shocking turn after a backstage attack sidelined Jacob Fatu. The incident, which played out live on television, served as an angle to explain Fatu’s real-life injury that will keep him off WWE programming for the foreseeable future.

The show segment began with the scheduled #1 Contender’s Match between Fatu and Drew McIntyre. However, just before the bell, the broadcast cut backstage to a chaotic scene where cameras found Fatu lying on the ground, bloodied and surrounded by WWE officials, including SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis. The visual stunned the audience as the commentary team speculated on what had happened to “The Samoan Werewolf.”

As medical staff tended to Fatu, McIntyre’s entrance music hit. The Scottish star confidently walked to the ring and demanded that the referee award him the match by forfeit. Aldis soon appeared on the stage, prompting McIntyre to insist he had nothing to do with the attack and that he still deserved the title opportunity. Before Aldis could respond, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes emerged to confront McIntyre.

Rhodes accused McIntyre directly, saying, “You know what you did,” before challenging him to prove himself if he truly wanted the championship. The exchange quickly escalated into a physical brawl around ringside, and the referee called for the bell to make the impromptu contest official.

The chaotic match spilled outside the ring multiple times. Rhodes connected with a Cody Cutter but was countered when McIntyre rolled out and caught him with a stiff forearm during a suicide dive attempt. Moments later, McIntyre launched Rhodes over the barricade, intensifying the fight. The bout ended when Rhodes struck McIntyre with his title belt, resulting in a disqualification.

Even after the bell, neither man backed down. Rhodes cleared the announce table and attempted to hit a Cross Rhodes, but McIntyre escaped by raking his eyes. The chaos continued as officials flooded ringside to separate the two. In a final act of defiance, Rhodes broke free, scaled the turnbuckles, and dove onto McIntyre and the referees to close the show in a dramatic scene.

McIntyre and Rhodes are expected to meet in the ring at the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event special on November 1 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
