Billy Gunn Reveals He’s Battling Back Injuries

Billy Gunn Reveals He’s Battling Back Injuries – AEW veteran Billy Gunn continues to defy age and expectations as an active wrestler well into his 60s, maintaining both his in-ring career and his reputation for peak physical conditioning. Appearing on Fuel & Flex with Charlie William Parks, the multi-decade wrestling star opened up about his training routine and the physical toll that comes with it.

Gunn explained that despite his love for heavy lifting — particularly squats — he’s currently battling a significant injury that affects his lower back. “I love to squat. I don’t know what it is. I’m not a huge squatter. I don’t know what it is. I love the feeling, I love the movement,” Gunn said. “But I have two stress fractures in my back that absolutely smoke me when I do it.”

Even with those injuries, Gunn remains committed to his training and has adjusted his workouts to minimize the risk of further damage. “I refuse not to do it. I’m not gonna do it. I found ways to make myself feel safer doing it just in case my back — every time I squat, I box squat,” he continued. “I just stretch and go, only because if something goes, I know that I have something that I can go to instead of going whoom! Trying to wipe out half the gym,” Gunn joked.

Known for his discipline and longevity, Gunn’s ability to maintain such a high standard of performance after nearly 40 years in professional wrestling is remarkable. In addition to competing inside the ring, he also works behind the scenes for All Elite Wrestling as a producer, helping mentor younger talent.

While Gunn is clearly managing his back injuries carefully, his determination and commitment to staying strong continue to inspire both wrestlers and fans alike.
