AEW Reportedly Cancels Plans for New Training Facility

AEW Reportedly Cancels Plans for New Training Facility – A recent report has revealed that AEW had been exploring plans to create a dedicated training facility to serve as a structured developmental system for the company. According to Fightful Select, the idea went beyond the current setup, which includes a building with a ring accessible to talent, and would have featured a full-scale training environment overseen by veteran wrestlers.

Discussions about the project reportedly became more detailed earlier in 2025, with Asheville, North Carolina, identified as the potential location. The choice of Asheville was said to be strategic, as it would have allowed several key figures to take part in developing new talent.

Names internally discussed to lead the training program included Dax Harwood, Cash Wheeler, Beth Phoenix, and Adam Copeland. The group would have served as the primary coaching staff, combining decades of experience across various promotions to guide AEW’s next generation.

The plan had progressed far enough to influence individual career moves. The report noted that Sting’s son, Steven Borden, was preparing to train in Asheville, aligning with the expectation that the AEW training center would soon become operational.

However, despite the detailed discussions and interest from several veterans, AEW ultimately chose not to move forward with the project. Internal sources suggested that financial considerations played a key role in halting development.

The idea of establishing a developmental program has been revisited multiple times within AEW. Prior to the Asheville proposal, there had been discussions about Ace Steel potentially leading a similar initiative before his departure from the company.
