AEW Wrestlers Reportedly Feeling Frustrated – 2024 marks a pivotal year for All Elite Wrestling as they approach the expiration of their media rights deal with Warner Bros. Discovery. Despite boasting one of the most talented and stacked rosters in recent memory, concerns have arisen among fans regarding the company’s direction.
Despite airing three AEW and one ROH shows, AEW has faced challenges across key metrics such as television ratings and attendance. The sheer size of the roster means that not every talent can be utilized to their full potential, leading to frustration among wrestlers.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer delves into the evolving backstage dynamics at AEW. He notes a shift from the once “fun place to work with great backstage camaraderie” to a setting marked by growing discontent among talent. While wrestlers are enjoying financial stability, many are grappling with limited ring time and a lack of upward mobility within the company.
“AEW went from the fun place to work with the great backstage camaraderie when WWE talent for the most part were walking on eggshells, to a place with a lot of frustration from wrestlers making a nice and even great living but not getting anywhere near the ring time nor upward mobility hoped for.”
The abundance of talent on the roster has resulted in wrestlers feeling frustrated due to the challenges of securing sufficient ring time and exposure. As AEW navigates through this transitional period, addressing these concerns will be crucial in maintaining morale and fostering a positive environment for talent to thrive.
