Andrade El Idolo On Hopes For AEW Roster Split & His Excitement For AEW Collision

As has been the case with “Collision” since it was announced, the topic turned to the idea of whether there would be a hard brand split between “Collision” and “AEW Dynamite,” featuring unique rosters, or if it would be a softer split. While AEW owner Tony Khan has indicated it would be the latter, Andrade himself is hoping for a harder separation, and endorsed the idea of AEW adding a title exclusive to “Collision.”

“I don’t know yet, but I hope they’re separate,” Andrade said. “I hope they make a new title, maybe separate the brand like it is in other companies … I wish separate. I don’t know yet.” One thing Andrade can’t look forward to is participating in AEWxNJPW Forbidden Door, taking place a day after the second “Collision” in Toronto, Canada.

This is not shocking news, as Andrade, along with other AEW luchadors like Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix, were reportedly barred from last year’s Forbidden Door due to their ties with AAA, the rival of NJPW’s lucha libre partner CMLL, and things appear to have not changed in the last year. “I think, I don’t know, that I can’t work that show [Forbidden Door],” Andrade said. “There’s some politics with the companies in Mexico … with AAA, with CMLL, with New Japan.”
