Backstage News on Zelina Vega’s Injury

Backstage News on Zelina Vega’s Injury – WWE recently announced that Zelina Vega has been pulled from the ongoing Queen of the Ring tournament due to an injury. The tournament finals are set to take place next Saturday at the themed PLE in Saudi Arabia.

The announcement was made before the May 12th house show by Adam Pearce, who explained Vega’s withdrawal as being injury-related. She was originally scheduled to face Shayna Baszler in a rescheduled match from Raw at the event in Macon, Georgia. Instead, Maxxine Dupri replaced Vega and ultimately lost to Baszler.

On Monday’s Raw, Baszler was defeated by IYO SKY in the quarterfinals. Next week, SKY will face Lyra Valkyria in the semifinals, with the winner advancing to the finals. Vega joins other wrestlers like Drew McIntyre, Asuka, and Bobby Lashley, who have also been pulled from their respective tournaments due to injuries.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that WWE was well aware of Vega’s need to be pulled from the tournament well in advance, similar to Lashley’s situation. Meltzer noted, “Lashley’s injury that kept him out of King of the Ring was known well in advance. Vega’s was known well in advance because those involved with the Baszler match knew she was getting a new opponent early last week, if not earlier.”

It is currently unclear when Zelina Vega will return to in-ring action, as is the case with Bobby Lashley’s injury situation.
