Backstage Update On Fluctuating Plans For WWE SummerSlam 2025 Card

Meltzer also revealed the original idea for Roman Reigns’ involvement at SummerSlam, explaining that he was supposed to be featured in a singles bout at the event, but plans have seemingly changed since he returned to “WWE Raw” last week.

“The plan was Roman Reigns against Bron Breakker and Jey Uso against Bronson Reed. From watching TV the last two weeks, I could easily see that change into a tag,” he stated. “One of the things about making it a tag that makes it better is that you can pin Bronson Reed. Because if they do a singles match, you either got to do a DQ or you got to beat Roman which I don’t think they want to do … but it was listed as two singles matches originally.”

In addition, Meltzer pointed out that Reigns vs. Rollins is the “big match” that WWE is interested in going forward, but have needed to hold off on the idea for now due to “The Visionary’s” knee injury.
