Former WWE star Baron Corbin has pushed back on recent reports suggesting his return to WWE is imminent, clarifying that he is still actively taking independent bookings — including an upcoming run of shows in Europe.
Corbin, who has been competing under the name Bishop Dyer since his 2024 WWE release, addressed the speculation directly on X after reports surfaced claiming he was either already signed or on the verge of rejoining the company.
“I accepted 8 shows in Europe. My eye is still swollen from Australia. I also didn’t know I was done with some of these companies. Whoever is making my schedule needs to let me know this sh*t. I thought it was me but apparently it’s not,” Corbin wrote.
His comments come shortly after reports from wrestling media figures indicated that a WWE return was “heavily talked about” behind the scenes, fueling speculation that the former Baron Corbin could be heading back sooner rather than later.
Recent International Appearances
Corbin’s mention of a “swollen eye from Australia” references his recent stint with World Series Wrestling during the WSW Rise Against tour. On May 15, he faced Karrion Kross (also known as Killer Kross) in a match that ended in a no-contest. The tour wrapped over the weekend and also included a Street Fight bout against Nic Nemeth.
Active On The Independent Scene
Since departing WWE, Baron Corbin has remained a consistent presence across multiple promotions. He has worked matches for Game Changer Wrestling, Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling, and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre, building momentum under his Bishop Dyer persona.
Despite the mounting speculation, Corbin’s latest statement suggests that — at least for now — he is continuing to operate as a free agent rather than someone locked into a WWE deal.
What’s Next?
While the door to WWE may still be open, Corbin’s schedule indicates he remains committed to his current run on the independent circuit. With eight European dates already lined up, any potential return may not be as immediate as previously rumored.
Still, given the level of industry chatter and WWE’s history of bringing back familiar names, the situation remains one to watch closely in the weeks ahead.
