Big #1 Contender Match and More Announced for 10/17 NXT – Cody Rhodes stepped into the role of decision-maker for one night and made some significant announcements for the upcoming episode of NXT. He wasted no time in addressing the fans’ desire for high-stakes matchups.

Rhodes revealed a number one contender’s showdown for the NXT Championship, setting up a thrilling triple threat match. The bout will feature Dijak, Baron Corbin, and Carmelo Hayes. Corbin, in particular, had expressed his displeasure with Ilja Dragunov and some other NXT superstars in the previous episode. Dijak, seizing an opportunity, launched an assault on Dragunov after Dragunov’s match against Dominik Mysterio. Meanwhile, Carmelo Hayes secured his spot in the match by defeating Bron Breakker in the main event, which saw the return of The Undertaker.

The victorious contender from this triple threat will earn the right to challenge NXT Champion Ilja Dragunov at the upcoming NXT Halloween Havoc event.

Rhodes also granted Tony D’Angelo’s and “Stacks” Lorenzo’s wish by announcing a ten-team Bada-Bing-Bada-Boom Battle Royal. The winning tag team from this battle royal will secure a shot at the NXT Tag Team Titles during NXT Halloween Havoc. This battle royal will follow the standard rules, but the last two teams standing will transition into a traditional tag team match.

Additionally, the card for the upcoming episode will see a captivating women’s bout as Lyra Valkyria takes on Tegan Nox. Lyra Valkyria is poised to challenge Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Title at NXT Halloween Havoc, making this matchup a pivotal one in the lead-up to the big event.
