Booker T is strongly backing Trick Williams as a future top star in WWE, but he made it clear that this stage of Williams’ career will define whether he truly breaks through. Speaking on the No Contest Wrestling Podcast, Booker T praised Williams’ current position on the roster while stressing that this is not the time to ease up.
During the discussion, Booker highlighted how important it is for Williams to stay focused and continue improving, despite the growing hype around him.
“Trick’s in that position now where he’s got to fly. He’s got to really, really fly. I hope he listens to this because I shoot straight. This is the most pivotal time for a young wrestler like Trick Williams. He cannot get complacent. He cannot start believing the hype. This is the time where he’s got to do more than he ever imagined to put himself into position to be that guy.”
Booker then pointed to Roman Reigns as the standard Williams should aim for, referencing Reigns’ consistency and leadership inside the ring over the past decade.
“That guy, such as a Roman Reigns, a guy who over these last 10 years, nobody has had a bad match with Roman Reigns because Roman is a hell of a general. He’s going to go out there and he’s going to take you through that match and he’s going to take you to something so compelling at the end of the night.”
“No matter how many people did not like Roman Reigns, they’re going to be saying, ‘Damn, he’s good.’ That’s where I need someone like Trick to really be honestly thinking about, focusing on being that guy. That guy that every guy in the locker room looks at him a certain way and they know it when he walks in the room.”
Williams has already made notable progress on the main roster. After debuting on SmackDown in January, he quickly entered a program with Sami Zayn. Within a short time, he reached a major milestone by competing at WrestleMania and capturing the United States Championship, strengthening his standing within WWE.
Fan support has continued to grow since his arrival, with many expecting him to become one of the company’s leading names. Booker T’s comments reflect that same belief, while also underlining that sustained effort and in-ring excellence will determine whether Williams reaches that level.
