Booker T Weighs In on WWE’s Reported Option to Buy TNA – On the latest episode of The Hall of Fame Podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T addressed the recent reports that WWE holds an option to purchase TNA Wrestling or block others from acquiring it. Booker T admitted he sees the possibility as realistic given the ongoing working relationship between the two companies.
“I could see something like that being, you know, available for WWE, just because all the work that they’re doing together right now,” Booker T said. “I don’t see TNA being sold anytime soon, because I think they got a really, really good thing going. You know, I think it only can get better for TNA right now. It’s a huge upside for TNA to still be in business.”
Booker noted that WWE and its parent company, TKO, have the financial resources to make a move if they decided to, pointing out that “money talks.”
“Can [WWE/TKO] write a huge check for somebody to just say, ‘Hey, man, let us run this thing.’ And, you know, hey, take this with you and somebody look at that check, and they go, ‘oh, man, I appreciate it.’… because they got deep pockets. Man, they got deep pockets, you know, and money talks, bull crap walks.”
He went on to say that if WWE did purchase TNA, he would expect them to keep the company operating as a separate entity. Booker also reflected on how he wished WWE had shown that same kind of mindset during the early 2000s when WCW folded.
