Braun Strowman Says He Changed What It Means to Be a Big Man

Braun Strowman Says He Changed What It Means to Be a Big Man – Braun Strowman believes he helped redefine the role of big men in professional wrestling. During a recent interview with TMZ Sports to promote his upcoming USA Network show Everything on the Menu, Strowman discussed his post-WWE projects and reflected on his time in the company.

The former Universal Champion said the new series allows him to show more of his real personality than he ever could in WWE.

“This is the first time in my life I’ve had a major platform where I get to be Adam Scherr, the man behind the monster,” Strowman said. “And that’s what’s so special to me because I always joke around if WWE would have ever just let me be me, I would’ve ruled the world.”

He added that while he didn’t always have creative control, he’s proud of the legacy he left in WWE. “I didn’t have the pencil. So, I did my best I could with what they gave me every week. I like to think I changed what it meant to be a big man in the wrestling business. And now here I am with another opportunity in life to go out here and prove naysayers wrong and break these stereotypes that follow around big people like me.”

Strowman described Everything on the Menu as a show with a “blue-collar approach” to food. “While I’m not this super educated human being when it comes to the food space, I know what tastes good and I know how to describe it in a way that I understand it,” he explained. “So I like to think this is almost a more little blue-collar approach to these food shows.”

Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman premieres Friday, October 24, on USA Network.

Strowman’s WWE contract expired earlier this year after the company opted not to renew his deal in May. He officially became a free agent at the end of July. According to reports, the decision was influenced by a combination of Strowman’s injuries and high salary. Meltzer noted that he “had not been moving well in the ring since coming back from a major hamstring injury,” adding that “he was hurt worse than people realized.”
