Bron Breakker Injury Update Reveals Longer Recovery Window After Surgery

Bron Breakker Injury Update Reveals Longer Recovery Window After Surgery – A new update has emerged regarding Bron Breakker’s condition following surgery for a serious hernia earlier this month, and it suggests the former champion could be sidelined longer than initially expected.

Breakker underwent the procedure after his condition worsened, with WWE later confirming on RAW that he would be out of action indefinitely. Commentary on the broadcast included Paul Heyman stating the injury occurred while deadlifting, though that account has since been questioned.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Breakker had been dealing with the issue for some time before it escalated to the point where emergency surgery was required.

“He has had this issue for a while… He had been working with it and then it got bad. Then, the day it got bad, he needed emergency surgery. I don’t think it was deadlifting, I’m not exactly sure what it was,” Meltzer said. “There’s no timetable for a return, they’re talking about career-ending, I think that’s kind of an exaggeration, he’ll come back. It could take a couple of months, you know, before he comes back, depending on a lot of different things.”

Meltzer also pushed back on speculation that Breakker’s early elimination from the Men’s Royal Rumble was tied to the injury.

“That had nothing to do with the Royal Rumble being out… It had nothing to do with any bookings, anything they’ve been doing. It was just like he got checked out and had to have emergency surgery.”

The procedure itself was reportedly more extensive than a standard laparoscopic hernia repair, which typically carries a shorter recovery window.

“He’ll be out for a while… Could be 12 weeks, could be six months at worst, probably not that long but again, I don’t know the details,” Meltzer said. “People have had the other surgery, and that’s usually about a two-month recovery, but his situation was worse than the regular surgery; it wasn’t the laparoscopy, this was a major operation.”

Breakker had been rumored for a WrestleMania 42 match against Seth Rollins, who is expected to be cleared from his own shoulder injury in time for the April 18–19 event in Las Vegas. With Breakker now facing a significant recovery period, it remains unclear whether WWE will adjust those plans or if he could still return in time for the show.
