Chelsea Green Says Ankle Injury Recovery Is Ahead of Schedule

Chelsea Green has shared an encouraging update on her ankle injury and says her recovery is moving faster than expected.

Green spoke with Denise Salcedo on the red carpet at the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest on February 23. During the interview, she explained that what was first feared to be a serious fracture turned out to be less severe. That news brought relief, even though the injury remains painful.

“I’m healing up much faster than I thought I would be. I’m out of the boot, but only for the fashion. I should not be out of the boot. Um, I chipped my ankle, the side of it. So, it’s painful, but I feel like I got lucky. Like, in terms of a broken ankle, I feel like I got very very very lucky. Thank gosh,” Green said.

Green made it clear that she does not expect to be sidelined for a long period. While she did not provide a specific return date, she stressed that her absence will be brief.

The injury took place during a Women’s Elimination Chamber qualifying match on the February 10 episode of SmackDown. Green competed against Tiffany Stratton and Lash Legend. Despite hurting her ankle during the match, she finished the bout before being examined backstage by WWE medical staff.

Because of the injury, Green was unable to defend the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship. As a result, she and Ethan Page lost the titles after a replacement stepped in. Even while recovering, Green has continued appearing on SmackDown in a wheelchair to remain part of ongoing storylines alongside Alba Fyre.

Fans have continued to support Green during her recovery, especially following her strong showing in season two of WWE: Unreal on Netflix. With her progress ahead of schedule, her return to the ring may come sooner than first expected.
