Chris Jericho Comments on WWE Return Speculation – Chris Jericho has remained off AEW television since April, when he publicly expressed disappointment in Big Bill and Bryan Keith before walking away from the pairing. Since then, his absence has fueled ongoing discussion about his future, especially with his AEW contract set to expire at the end of the year.
The longtime wrestling star addressed the speculation indirectly on Saturday night during a live broadcast on his YouTube channel. Jericho hosted a “Christmas Dinner With The Winnipeggers” special, which aired at the same time as AEW Worlds End. During the stream, a fan sent in a message recalling Jericho’s 1999 WWE debut and expressed hope that he would one day return to the company.
Jericho offered a brief but notable response, saying, “You never know. You never know.” While the comment did not confirm any plans, it did little to quiet the ongoing conversation surrounding his next move.
Leading into Worlds End, Fightful Select reported that Jericho’s name had not been part of internal discussions regarding AEW’s creative plans. That report added further uncertainty to Jericho’s status with the company, particularly as AEW heads toward the new year with several storylines already mapped out.
Earlier this month, Jericho also addressed his future during an interview, making it clear that retirement is not imminent. “I’m not done yet. Still figuring out everything and we’ll see where I end up. I’m pretty sure you’ll see me in 2026 in a wrestling ring somewhere,” Jericho said. The statement reinforced that he intends to continue wrestling, even if his destination remains undecided.
Jericho has been a central figure in AEW since the company’s launch in 2019. As the promotion’s first World Champion, he played a key role in establishing AEW’s early identity. The Young Bucks, Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson, have frequently referred to Jericho as a “founding father” of the promotion due to his influence both on-screen and behind the scenes.
With Jericho remaining publicly non-committal and AEW plans seemingly moving forward without him, questions about a potential WWE return or another destination are likely to persist into 2026.
