Chris Jericho returned to in-ring action at AEW Dynasty after more than a year away, but the comeback did not go as planned.

Jericho faced Ricochet on April 12 at Rogers Arena in his first match since last year’s Dynasty, where he lost the ROH World Title to Bandido in a Title vs. Mask match.

The crowd gave Jericho a strong reception, loudly singing along to his “Judas” theme as he made his entrance. The reaction reflected the anticipation surrounding his return after an extended absence.

Once the match began, Jericho showed he had not lost a step. He kept the contest competitive and delivered several of his signature moves, including a Lionsault and a Codebreaker that nearly secured the victory.

Late in the match, Jericho attempted to apply the Walls of Jericho, but outside interference from Toa disrupted the moment and allowed Ricochet to escape. That sequence proved to be the turning point.

Ricochet quickly took control, hitting his Spirit Gun before delivering a Lionsault — Jericho’s own signature move — to score the pinfall. The finish added another layer to the result, as Jericho was defeated using one of his own trademarks.

The Chris Jericho return had been positioned as a major moment for AEW, but the loss shifts the focus to what comes next for the veteran. While he showed flashes of his previous form, the outcome leaves his immediate direction uncertain following his first match back.
