CM Punk Announced for SmackDown, Update on His Status

CM Punk Announced for SmackDown, Update on His Status – CM Punk will be appearing on this Friday’s edition of SmackDown, which takes place from the Allstate Arena in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. The news was broken by the Allstate Arena social media account.

Punk appeared at WWE Clash at the Castle and screwed Drew McIntyre out of winning the world heavyweight championship. He said in the post-Clash at the Castle press conference that he was returning to Chicago this week to potentially get cleared by doctors. He has been out of action since the Royal Rumble, here he tore his triceps.

WrestleVotes reported this morning that Punk’s return date is set for the end of July. While this means he’ll probably be missing Money In The Bank, that does leave him open for SummerSlam in Cleveland.

“As of last week’s RAW roster sheet, CM Punk’s official return date was set for the end of July. I’m told he likely won’t be cleared for action by MITB on 7/6, but he should be ready for SummerSlam on 8/3.”
