Cody Rhodes has reacted to the reveal of Pat McAfee as Randy Orton’s mystery caller following the April 3 episode of WWE SmackDown.
Earlier in the show, Rhodes confronted Orton, leading to a physical altercation. The segment took a turn when McAfee made a surprise appearance, striking Rhodes with a low blow before later confirming he had been the one advising Orton in recent weeks.
Rhodes returned later in the broadcast to address the situation and did not hold back, using a notable comparison to mock the reveal.
“We all got dressed up in St. Louis tonight to find out who Randy Orton was talking to on the phone and color me surprise, it was Pat McAfee. That’s like if Scott Hall and Kevin Nash talked about the third man in the nWo and instead of Hulk Hogan, it was Disco Inferno.”
The comment referenced one of wrestling’s most famous moments, the formation of the New World Order, while taking a direct shot at McAfee’s significance in the reveal.
Rhodes’ mention of Disco Inferno also ties into past tension between the two. Years ago, Disco criticized Rhodes over an injury-related spot, prompting a sharp response from Rhodes on social media.
“Stop. You know nothing. You have drawn 0 dollars. No fan has ever left a show thinking about you. You were lucky to be a juiced up double-lifer “over with the boys” type in an era where you hid in plain sight coasting on others’ success. Couldn’t hang then, can’t get booked now.”
With WrestleMania 42 approaching, the situation continues to escalate, as Rhodes now finds himself dealing with both Orton and McAfee ahead of their anticipated showdown.
