The announcement, made on social media Tuesday, comes after a heated confrontation between the two on last week’s episode of SmackDown.

The storyline unfolded throughout Friday’s show, with Aldis initially scheduling McIntyre to face Jacob Fatu in a number one contender’s match. However, before the bout could begin, chaos erupted backstage as Fatu was discovered unconscious, bloodied, and surrounded by what appeared to be several of his teeth on the floor. McIntyre smirked at the situation but denied any involvement in the attack.

Moments later, WWE Champion Cody Rhodes made his way to the ring and challenged McIntyre directly, telling him that if he wanted a title shot, he didn’t have to wait. The two men brawled around ringside in an intense exchange that ended with Rhodes striking McIntyre with the WWE title belt. The match was ruled a disqualification, and no confirmation was made at the time regarding whether the fight was officially for the championship.
