Darby Allin’s Favorite AEW Match Was Also The Most Stressful

Allin did not the irony of him taking on extra duty in the match when he spent most of it on the floor following his leap into glass. The death defying leap not only drew a ton of controversy towards Allin and AEW’s way, but also put Allin at serious risk. He described the immediate reaction to AEW personnel that came to check on him immediately following the spot, and how he ultimately refused to be taken out of the match, despite the grizzly scene he left on the floor.

“It’s funny, because as soon as I went through the glass, the ref ran up to me and said ‘Darby, how are you feeling?'” Allin said. “I’m like ‘I’m pretty good. I’m pretty good actually.’ And he looks down and is like ‘Dude, your insides are hanging out.’ And then they’re like ‘We’ve got to go to the back.’ I’m like ‘There’s no way I’m going to the back…I’ve literally got one more spot. Tape me up.’ So if you look at when I pop back up and I push one of the Young Bucks off the top rope through the table at the very end, I’m duct taped up. And it’s like ‘Wait, where did he get duct taped?’ It was the doctors. So everything was, like, great. It worked out…yeah. I have no complaints on that match.”
