Dominik Mysterio Out Indefinitely With Shoulder Injury – WWE announced during the December 29 episode of RAW that Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio is out of action indefinitely due to a shoulder injury. The update was delivered on commentary by Joe Tessitore, who confirmed that the injury occurred during a recent match in Mexico for Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide.

While WWE did not provide a timetable for Mysterio’s return, the use of the term “indefinitely” suggests the injury could be serious enough to keep him sidelined for an extended period. As a result, there is growing concern that his status for the 2026 Royal Rumble could be in jeopardy.

The injury took place on December 20 at AAA’s Guerra de Titanes event in Guadalajara. Dominik competed in a tag team match alongside El Grande Americano against Rey Fenix and his father, Rey Mysterio. According to multiple reports, including the Wrestling Observer, the injury occurred during the closing stretch of the match when Dominik took a DDT from Rey Mysterio.

Fans in attendance noted that Dominik immediately began favoring his arm after the move and appeared unable to lift it. Despite the visible discomfort, he remained in the match until the finish. The bout ended with Rey Mysterio pinning Dominik following interference from Penta.

Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer later reported that the injury was believed to be a separated shoulder. While Dominik was reportedly in good spirits backstage earlier in the week, there has been internal concern within WWE that surgery could be required. If surgical intervention becomes necessary, Dominik could be sidelined for several months, which would put his availability for WrestleMania 42 in serious doubt.

As a precaution, WWE had already removed Dominik from the company’s post-Christmas holiday live event tour. His absence creates a notable gap on RAW, as he has been a central figure in The Judgment Day storyline and entered 2026 as the reigning Intercontinental Champion.

How WWE plans to address the Intercontinental Championship and The Judgment Day’s direction in Dominik’s absence remains to be seen.
