Dominik Mysterio Vs El Hijo del Vikingo Set for Worlds Collide – WWE has confirmed that Dominik Mysterio will face El Hijo del Vikingo in a singles match for the AAA Mega Championship at Worlds Collide in Las Vegas on Friday, September 12. The announcement follows the chaotic conclusion of Triplemanía XXXIII, where Vikingo retained his title in a four-way match involving Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and El Grande Americano.
At Triplemanía XXXIII on August 16, Vikingo once again proved why he is one of the most dominant lucha libre stars of this era. Despite stiff competition, he walked out of AAA’s biggest show of the year with the Mega Championship still in his possession. However, the finish left Dominik Mysterio dissatisfied. Immediately after the match, “Dirty Dom” challenged Vikingo to a one-on-one encounter, demanding the opportunity to prove himself without interference from other competitors.
WWE has now made the bout official, confirming that the AAA Mega Championship will be on the line at Worlds Collide. The event is set for The Pavilion at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas and will be available to stream live in the U.S. on Peacock, while international fans can watch via the WWE Network.
This match also highlights the strengthening partnership between WWE and Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. WWE’s acquisition of AAA, in collaboration with Fillip, has opened the door to major cross-promotional matches that were once thought unlikely. Triplemanía XXXIII was the first held under WWE’s ownership of AAA, and now Worlds Collide looks to continue that momentum by presenting one of the most anticipated championship matches of the year.
With Mysterio looking to capture his first AAA Mega Championship and Vikingo aiming to continue his reign against one of WWE’s rising stars, all eyes will be on Las Vegas on September 12.
