FTR AEW Future Draws WWE Interest After AEW Tag Title Loss at Double or Nothing 2026

The future of FTR in All Elite Wrestling has become a major talking point following reports that WWE is showing renewed interest in the former AEW World Tag Team Champions after their loss at Double or Nothing 2026.

FTR, consisting of Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler, dropped the AEW World Tag Team Championships in an “I Quit” match against Adam Copeland and Christian Cage at the event. The stipulation-heavy bout marked a major shift in AEW’s tag team landscape and immediately sparked discussion about what could come next for the former champions.

Before joining AEW in 2020, FTR competed in WWE under the name The Revival, where they were positioned as one of the most technically proficient tag teams of their era. Since arriving in AEW, they have established themselves as one of the promotion’s cornerstone teams across multiple eras.

Their AEW run began alongside manager Tully Blanchard and included a dominant early undefeated streak. The team later captured the AEW World Tag Team Championships by defeating Kenny Omega and Adam Page at All Out 2020, marking their first major title success in the company.

FTR also became central figures in several of AEW’s most acclaimed tag team rivalries, including their 2022 program with The Briscoe Brothers, widely regarded as one of the standout feuds in the promotion’s tag division history. During this period, they also transitioned into fan favorites after initially being aligned with MJF’s Pinnacle faction as antagonists.

In 2023, Harwood and Wheeler secured their second AEW Tag Team Title reign by defeating The Gunns in a “Title vs. Career” match. After dealing with injuries and fluctuating creative direction, the duo regained momentum in late 2025 and returned to the top of the division heading into 2026.

According to a report from BodySlam, FTR signed four-year AEW contracts in 2023 and are now approaching an option year in those deals. While there is no indication they are leaving AEW imminently, internal discussions regarding their long-term value and positioning within the company are said to be increasing.

The same report noted that there has been at least preliminary WWE interest communicated through mutual contacts, although no formal talks or negotiations have taken place. WWE is also reportedly working to strengthen its tag team division, which could make an experienced act like FTR a valuable addition if circumstances change.

For now, FTR remain under AEW contract, but their future is once again a focal point in the ongoing competition between the two promotions.
