Goldberg Accuses WWE of Affecting His Legacy Over Undefeated Streak

Goldberg Accuses WWE of Affecting His Legacy Over Undefeated Streak – WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg has made it clear that he’s still not thrilled about his iconic undefeated streak being surpassed. One of the defining aspects of Goldberg’s WCW career was his 173-match winning streak, which turned him into a dominant figure during the height of the Monday Night Wars. Years later, WWE created a new milestone when Asuka broke that record with her own 914-day undefeated streak across NXT and the main roster.

Speaking on Real Talk with Mike Burke, Goldberg was reminded by host Mike Burke that his record seemed impossible to replicate. However, Goldberg disagreed, suggesting WWE deliberately set out to surpass it through Asuka’s run.

“Some girl at WWE. They did it on purpose,” Goldberg said (H/T Fightful). “I have nothing against the girl, by any means, but yeah. The whole WWE experience… I was part of WCW when we were kicking their ass in the Monday Night Wars. I didn’t know what was going on at the time, I was just on one of the sides. Now, one side dissolves and the other one consumes everything, so they can treat everyone and everything the way they want.

“I think there is always going to be the bird in their ass that I was part of a company where I was the champion in a very short period of time and we were beating them in the ratings.”

Goldberg’s WCW streak saw him capture both the United States and World Heavyweight Championships before suffering his first loss in December 1998. Asuka’s historic streak, meanwhile, began in NXT, where she held the NXT Women’s Championship before making her main roster debut. Her run eventually ended at WrestleMania 34, where she was defeated by Charlotte Flair.
