Gunther Still Expected To Play Major Role At WrestleMania 42 Despite WWE Absence

Gunther is still expected to have a significant role at WrestleMania 42 despite his recent absence from WWE programming.

According to WrestleVotes Radio via Fightful Select, internal sources within WWE believe it would not benefit anyone for Gunther to miss the event, indicating that plans are still in place for him to be featured in a meaningful way.

Gunther has not appeared on television since a high-profile segment where he unmasked Dragon Lee, a moment that drew significant attention. His absence since then has led to speculation about his status for WrestleMania, but internally, WWE still views him as a key part of the show.

The situation surrounding his WrestleMania direction has become more complicated due to injury concerns involving Rey Mysterio. Gunther had been expected to face Mysterio at WrestleMania 42, but Mysterio is currently dealing with a rib injury, putting that match in doubt and leaving Gunther’s opponent unclear.

Despite the uncertainty, Gunther’s importance to WWE remains unquestioned. He previously held the Intercontinental Championship for a record-setting 666 days before moving into the main event scene. Since then, he has captured the World Heavyweight Championship on two occasions and established himself as one of the top stars on WWE RAW.

With WrestleMania 42 scheduled for April 18 and 19 at Allegiant Stadium, WWE is continuing to finalize plans for one of its biggest stars. While no official announcement has been made regarding Gunther’s match, all indications point to him remaining a prominent part of the event.
