There are all types of fandoms to be found within the world of pro wrestling. Obviously, there’s fandom for wrestlers, promotions, non-wrestling onscreen talent, and even in some cases the TV networks these wrestling shows air on. What isn’t commonly found, however, is a fandom for the fans themselves. This really goes for every sport; while there have been exceptions in every sport, such as New York Jets fan “Fireman Ed,” most of the time, the fans are not people who are focused on. And why would they be? These are people that pay to watch something, and otherwise don’t really want the attention on themselves, save for the few times during a game/event where they happen to be shown on the jumbotron. But this is wrestling, so naturally, there have been times where fans actually become semi-famous. Jose Devillegas/Getty Images

“The Hardcore Icon” Mick Foley is known for so many things that it usually takes awhile to get to his children, especially when several of them have lived private lives. But two of them have become at least semi-public figures over the years; his oldest child, son Dewey previously worked on WWE’s creative team. But more attention has gone to Foley’s daughter, Noelle, who has made sporadic appearances in wrestling over the years, but largely has gotten a following more for her wrestling fandom and social media presence. Well, that and the fact that she has been dating the aforementioned Frank the Clown ever since 2014.

Dating in wrestling has often been a controversial topic with fans when it’s merely the wrestlers that are dating each other. Naturally, the same has been the case for two wrestling fans that are dating, albeit two wrestling fans that are a bit more famous than most. But while the reaction to Frank hasn’t always been the most positive, to the point that he’s become one of the many in wrestling that has been criticized by the controversial Jim Cornette, the relationship between Foley and Frank has seemed strong as the years have gone along. Perhaps most importantly, it also has received the approval of Foley’s family. In 2021, Mick Foley revealed in an interview that, though it took awhile, he was eventually won over by Frank, and would approve of him and Foley’s daughter one day getting married. So if nothing else, at least Frank has already cleared the toughest hurdle; earning the approval of his girlfriend’s father.
