Jazmyn Nyx Responds to Bully Ray’s Comments, Talks Contract Negotiation with WWE – Jazmyn Nyx has opened up about her recent WWE departure, confirming that financial disagreements were the main reason behind her decision to leave the company after a three-year run in NXT.
Nyx, who was part of the Fatal Influence stable before being written off television in a backstage attack segment by Lainey Reid, said her exit came down to contract negotiations that stalled over pay. Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, she revealed that she would have stayed if WWE had offered even a small raise, but the company refused to adjust its initial terms.
“I just wanted any compensation,” Nyx said. “I felt, after three years, there could have been a meet in the middle. After I realized there was no budge, that’s where it stood. There is nothing else I can do or say. Any sort of raise would do, and there was no raise. Yeah, just based off people who were coming in like me at that rate. After two years of being on TV every Tuesday, working for TNA as well, I felt like a raise would be understandable.
“If they felt like that was my value at that time, then I didn’t see it changing much. In terms of cost of living, there is nothing you can really say. Cost of living goes up every year. You have to make a living. If you don’t get a raise, you’re losing money. That’s how I looked at it.”
Nyx also responded to comments from Bully Ray, who suggested that she lacked passion for wrestling due to her non-traditional athletic background. Nyx disagreed, saying her commitment and work ethic speak for themselves.
“I really respect him, I think there’s nothing wrong with what he’s saying,” she said. “Everyone is entitled to their own opinions. It’s not like we know each other on a personal level, so he won’t know for sure if that passion burns within me. When it comes from, yes I played soccer and had a passion for soccer, and training I had to put myself through a lot to be successful in that, and the same with WWE, you have to work hard.
“I think just because my journey was a little different doesn’t mean I don’t have passion or building passion to the future of WWE, making it to main roster, I for sure have passion. I think that was a little of a hard take but everyone is entitled to their own opinions, and if that’s how he perceives me, that is what it is, and that’s what people do say when athletes come in.
“I’ve never been like that, you can’t put your all into something if you don’t have passion. The stuff I’ve already done, the work I put in both on and off TV, I personally don’t think it’s possible to do all of that without having passion or love for what I’m doing.”
Nyx’s candid remarks shed light on her exit and underline the financial and personal considerations that influenced her decision to move on from WWE.
