JBL Makes Surprise Appearance at MCW, Takes Out Velveteen Dream – WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield made a surprise appearance at Maryland Championship Wrestling’s Autumn Armageddon event in Dundalk, Maryland, where he delivered a shocking moment that quickly went viral among fans.
During Sunday’s show, JBL stormed the ring while Velveteen Dream (Patrick Clark) and Joe Keys were setting up weapons for a match spot. Without warning, the former WWE Champion took out both men before leaving the ring to a loud reaction from the crowd. MCW later shared footage of the surprise attack on social media, with JBL commenting afterward by paraphrasing “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s famous phrase: “Arrive. Raise hell. Leave.”
Fans were stunned to see Patrick Clark back in action, with many expressing surprise in the comments that he continues to wrestle. Much of the discussion centered around Clark’s controversial past during his WWE tenure.
While performing as Velveteen Dream, Clark faced several accusations of inappropriate sexual conduct and online solicitation involving minors. WWE released him in 2021 amid those allegations. His legal troubles continued after his departure, as he was arrested twice in August 2022 for battery, trespassing, and drug paraphernalia charges. Additionally, EC3 alleged that Clark secretly recorded wrestlers at a private gathering, an accusation Clark has denied.
In January 2024, Clark released a public apology video directed toward former WWE colleagues and others he said he had wronged. Later that year, he stated he felt he was owed an apology, claiming his reputation was unfairly tarnished. Though he was never convicted of any crime, Clark has struggled to rebuild his career, mainly competing for MCW while taking occasional independent bookings.
JBL’s unexpected run-in added a jolt of mainstream attention to MCW’s Autumn Armageddon tour, marking another memorable moment for the Maryland-based promotion.
