Joe Hendry Explains Why He Chose WWE After TNA Success

Joe Hendry Explains Why He Chose WWE After TNA Success – Joe Hendry is only a short time into his WWE run, yet his decision to leave TNA Wrestling continues to generate conversation across the industry. After enjoying a major surge in popularity last year thanks to his viral entrance theme and a strong TNA World Championship reign, Hendry became one of the most talked-about talents in the business. His guest appearances on WWE NXT and even on the main roster further fueled speculation about his future until he officially signed a new deal with WWE. Speaking on the No-Contest Wrestling podcast, Hendry discussed what pushed him to make the move.

In his own words, Hendry described a mindset driven by improvement and long-term growth. “Right now I am obsessed with getting better at wrestling, and trying to be the absolute best professional wrestler that I can be,” he said. That pursuit of development shaped his path toward NXT, which he views as the ideal environment for progression.

Hendry expanded on that thought, noting that he wanted to sharpen every aspect of his skill set. “That is, for me, the primary reason why I chose to come to NXT, was to evolve as a wrestler. Because I really feel I can take this all the way, and the Performance Center has the tools for me to do that. I am obsessed with getting better, so I actually find it super hard to switch off from the wrestling business and relax.” His comments reflect a competitor who sees NXT not as a step down, but as the right atmosphere to fine-tune his craft with the intention of reaching the highest level.

Even with his focus on development, Hendry is already making an impact. He has earned a WrestleMania match opposite Randy Orton and is reportedly signed under a main-roster–level deal despite currently wrestling in NXT. The company clearly sees long-term potential in him, and Hendry appears equally committed to the path ahead.

Recently, TNA President Carlos Silva addressed Hendry’s move during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show. He highlighted the ongoing working relationship between TNA and WWE, noting that Hendry’s appearances could continue. “Joe (Hendry), you’ll see on NXT all the time. As part of our partnership, you may see Joe come back and be on TNA shows because that’s part of what we do with WWE and NXT, we share wrestlers. I’m super happy for Joe. Super happy for WWE. We all kind of worked on it together. Joe is a great talent and a super good guy.”

Silva’s remarks underline how Hendry’s signing has been viewed positively on all sides, with both promotions benefiting from his rising profile. As Hendry settles into the WWE system, his drive for improvement and the company’s investment in him point toward a significant future ahead.
